With the June 1, 2026, deadline for mandatory sourcing of solar cells from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II fast approaching, solar developers are urging the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy to consider a time-bound extension, citing concerns over limited operational Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact capacity and potential project delays.

Tamil Nadu’s commercial and industrial renewable energy market is entering a more mature phase, where the discourse is shifting from simple tariff savings to long-term strategy, infrastructure planning, and export competitiveness. As of December 2025, renewable energy accounted for 57.5% of Tamil Nadu’s power mix, with solar at 20% and wind at 29%, while thermal power contributes 39%.

In an interview with Mercom India, Abhishek Sharma and Ranjana Rani of Apparent Energy outlined how the company is building a fully indigenous, cloud-native meter data management platform designed to support the digital transitions of India’s future power grid.

Rooftop solar and behind-the-meter renewable energy systems are expected to play a central role in reducing emissions and energy costs across India’s micro, small, and medium enterprises, according to a decarbonization roadmap prepared by NITI Aayog.

Dadra Nagar Haveli Daman and Diu Power Distribution Corporation issued a tender for the annual operation and maintenance of ground-mounted solar projects with a cumulative installed capacity of 14.3 MW across the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu. The solar installations are located in Silvassa, Daman, and Diu, with capacities ranging from 200 kW to 6,000 kW.

Gurgaon-based renewable energy solutions provider NeuEN Green Energy won Numaligarh Refinery’s auction to set up a 10,000 MTPA green hydrogen generation unit on a build-own-operate basis. The company will supply gaseous green hydrogen to the refinery at Numaligarh in Assam. The company won the auction at a tariff of ₹279 (~$3.08)/kg without GST.

Clean energy and sustainability are at the core of the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. The airport plans to meet at least 50% of its electricity needs from renewable energy. To reach this target, NIA will procure a cumulative 23.8 MW of renewable power to meet its massive power needs.

Bengaluru-based battery cell manufacturer, e-TRNL Energy, secured ₹274 million (~$3.02 million) in seed funding, led by IAN Group’s IAN Alpha Fund with participation from Navam Capital, Speciale Invest, and other investors. This capital injection will be used to complete product development, validate performance and safety, and demonstrate domestic manufacturing capabilities for its next-generation battery cells.

Switching to solar energy is a viable proposition for industries that must operate around the clock and are in states with high grid tariffs. S & P Feeds, a part of Anand Agro Group, a food processing plant in Nashik, Maharashtra, turned to solar to cut its electricity expenses. It installed a 3 MW ground-mounted solar project in March 2025 that today meets 40–50% of its monthly power consumption.

Decarbonization solutions company ReNew posted a total revenue of ₹31.37 billion (~$345.79 million) in the third quarter of the financial year 2026, a 48% year-over-year increase from ₹21.19 billion (~$233.57 million). The revenue growth was on account of higher accruals due to an increase in operational capacity, gain on sale of assets, higher wind plant load factor, and an increase in external sales from the solar module and cell manufacturing operations.
