CERC adopts a tariff of ₹2.15/kWh for 170 MW solar project in Neemuch solar park

NLC India announced the winner of its auction to set up a 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation’s substations. The tender was floated in January this year. The scope of work entails the design, engineering, manufacturing, erection, testing, and commissioning of the BESS project. It also includes providing operation and maintenance services for 12 years.

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) adopted a tariff of ₹2.15 (~$0.0224)/kWh for a 170 MW solar project to be developed as Unit 3 of the Neemuch Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh. The Commission held that the tariff had been discovered through a transparent bidding process in accordance with the Ministry of Power’s guidelines.

The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) approved tariffs ranging from ₹210,000 (~$2,179.66)/MW/month to ₹212,000 (~$2,200.42)/MW/month for Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam’s procurement of 335 MW/670 MWh energy storage capacity. This capacity was the unawarded portion of a tender for 2,000 MW/4,000 MWh of standalone storage projects in the state, with 1,665 MW/3,350 MWh awarded earlier.

The GERC approved Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam’s petition to adopt tariffs for 500 MW of wind power capacity. The procurement includes 250 MW of base capacity and an additional 250 MW under the greenshoe option. The tariffs were discovered through competitive bidding.

The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission proposed a resource adequacy framework for the state’s power sector to ensure the availability of sufficient capacity to meet electricity demand reliably. The framework will apply to generating companies, distribution licensees (DISCOM), the state load dispatch center, the state transmission utility, transmission companies, and other grid-connected entities and stakeholders in Uttarakhand.

The decks have been cleared for the merger of REC Limited with the Power Finance Corporation (PFC), with the boards of the two government-owned companies approving the proposal made in the Union Budget 2026-27. In separate filings on the BSE, the two companies said that their boards had given the go-ahead for the PFC to make an application to the President of India for the merger of REC into PFC at such a share exchange ratio as may be determined by valuers appointed for the purpose.

The Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency invited bids under two tenders to select engineering, procurement, and construction contractors for grid-connected rooftop and small solar power projects at government buildings across the state. The last date to submit bids for both tenders is May 29, 2026. Bids will be opened on May 30.

Gujarat-based solar module manufacturer Solex Energy reported a revenue of ₹8.86 billion (~$92.39 million) for the fourth quarter of the financial year (FY) 2026, up 247.6% year-over-year from ₹2.55 billion (~$26.58 million). Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization for the quarter rose 246.1% YoY to ₹986.2 million (~$10.29 million) from ₹285 million (~$2.97 million).

Japan’s Organization for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operators announced the results for the FY 2025 Long-Term Decarbonized Power Source Auction, selecting 28 winners, which included winners for 10 lithium-ion (Li-ion), nine for Li-ion, and two for pumped storage projects for a total energy storage capacity of 1.7 GW.
