The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission approved the tariffs and the execution of 25 power purchase agreements for grid-connected solar power projects with an aggregate capacity of 71.9 MW. The accepted tariffs ranged from ₹2.79 (~$0.0307) to ₹2.95 (~$0.0324)/kWh.
Northeast Frontier Railway floated a tender for setting up a 1 MW ground-mounted solar project at the CMM/NJP Store Depot campus in New Jalpaiguri, under the Katihar Division, West Bengal. The project aims to generate an estimated 10.91 million kWh of power over the contract period. The last date to submit the bids is January 5, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.
Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) invited bids to select a pre-bid partner to set up standalone 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Kerala. The last date to submit bids is December 19, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day. This tender is a pre-bid tie-up, and its award is contingent on POWERGRID winning the upstream tender floated by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam. The project involves the installation of the BESS at the 220 kV Brahmapuram substation in Kochi, with an interconnection at the 220 kV level within the jurisdiction of the Kerala State Electricity Board.
Godawari New Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Godawari Power & Ispat (GPIL), announced it plans to expand the capacity of its 10 GWh BESS manufacturing plant to 40 GWh. GPIL, a flagship company of HIRA group, had in November announced that its board of directors had approved setting up a 10 GWh BESS manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. The company will invest ₹16.25 billion (~$178.74 million) in the BESS plant, which will be commissioned in two phases.
Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Group won two wind turbine supply contracts for a total capacity of 306 MW from Yanara for firm and dispatchable renewable energy projects in the Barmer district, Rajasthan. The orders comprise two contracts of 153 MW each. The wind turbines will support Yanara’s 800 MW utility-scale hybrid renewable energy projects that combine wind, solar, and energy storage. Suzlon will supply, install, and commission a total of 102 S144 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 3 MW, equipped with hybrid lattice towers.
Wind energy solutions provider Inox Wind received orders worth 202.3 MW for its 3.3 MW wind turbines from Jakson Green and ABREL EPC, a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Renewables. The orders include a repeat order of 100 MW from Jakson Green for renewable energy projects under development in Gujarat, and of 102.3 MW from ABREL EPC for projects in Karnataka.
NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) commissioned 243.66 MW of the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar Project in Gujarat. The project is being executed under Phase II Tranche III of the Central Public Sector Undertaking program. NGEL’s total installed capacity has increased from 7,645.67 MW to 7,889.33 MW with the commissioning of 243.66 MW. In November, NGEL had commissioned 75.5 MW and 95.75 MW of the same project in October 2025. NGEL also commissioned 78 MW out of 245 MW capacity at Plot-1 of its Nokh Solar Project in Rajasthan.
Decarbonization solutions company ReNew signed a long-term agreement to enable the development of a 150 MW solar project in Rajasthan. Under this partnership, Google will procure the project’s energy attributes from ReNew. The solar project is scheduled for commissioning in 2026.
Waste management agency GEM Enviro Management’s board of directors approved the acquisition of a 50.10% equity stake in Solluz Energy for a cash consideration of ₹50 million (~$550,087). The acquisition will be executed through a share subscription agreement and is expected to be completed on or before January 31, 2026.
