Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Group has won two wind turbine supply contracts for a total capacity of 306 MW from Yanara for firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) projects in the Barmer district, Rajasthan.

The orders comprise two contracts of 153 MW each. The wind turbines will support Yanara’s 800 MW utility-scale hybrid renewable energy projects that combine wind, solar, and energy storage.

Suzlon will supply, install, and commission a total of 102 S144 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 3 MW, equipped with hybrid lattice towers. Power generated from these projects will partially fulfil Yanara’s obligations under power purchase agreements with multiple utilities, including NTPC and NHPC.

The orders follow closely after Yanara’s 115 MW co-located solar-wind hybrid project in Maharashtra, which is nearing completion and includes a 29.4 MW wind order awarded to Suzlon. Through these projects, Yanara is building a grid-scale portfolio of hybrid renewable assets.

With these orders, Suzlon has over 2.3 GW of installed wind capacity, accounting for 44% of Rajasthan’s total installed wind capacity of 5.2 GW. Suzlon is also executing additional engineering, procurement, and construction projects in Rajasthan, aggregating 791 MW.

Yanara operates FDRE projects across India, the Philippines, and Australia. To date, it has secured power purchase agreements for over 900 MW of installed capacity. The company also has hybrid renewable projects totaling over 5.1 GW, more than 1.3 GW under development, and 110 MW projects moving towards operational status.

Suzlon Group has installed 21.3 GW of wind energy capacity across 17 countries, with an installed base of 15.4 GW in India and around 6 GW internationally.

In June this year, Suzlon secured an order from AMPIN Energy Transition to supply 54 of its S144 wind turbine generators for a 170.1 MW project in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.

In May this year, Suzlon Energy and Integrum Energy won Bharat Petroleum Corporation’s tender to set up 100 MW wind power projects in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
