NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has commissioned 243.66 MW of the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar Project in Gujarat.

The project is being executed under Phase II Tranche III of the Central Public Sector Undertaking program.

NGEL’s total installed capacity has increased from 7,645.67 MW to 7,889.33 MW with the commissioning of 243.66 MW.

In November, NGEL had commissioned 75.5 MW and 95.75 MW of the same project in October 2025.

NGEL also commissioned 78 MW out of 245 MW capacity at Plot-1 of its Nokh Solar Project in Rajasthan.

As of the third quarter of the financial year 2026, NGEL has a total portfolio of over 32 GW of renewable energy projects across India. The company has 15,680 MW of renewable energy projects contracted and 9,100 MW in the pipeline.

In October, NGEL commissioned 37.95 MW of its 300 MW solar project in Khavda, bringing the total operational capacity to 262 MW. In the first phase, a capacity of 142.2 MW was commissioned on June 28, 2025. It was followed by the commissioning of 32.8 MW and 49.125 MW in June and August.

In the same month, NGEL announced the commencement of commercial operations of a 12.5 MW solar capacity at Bhuj, Gujarat. This capacity is part of a total 37.5 MW solar project being developed by Ayana Renewable Power Four, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power.

It had commissioned 25 MW of the same project in September, in addition to commissioning 9.9 MW of a 92.4 MW wind energy project at the same location.

In July 2025, as part of a major clean energy push, the central government allowed NTPC to invest up to ₹200 billion (~$2.32 billion) in NGEL, NTPC Renewable Energy, and its other joint ventures. The increase in the investment limit will help NTPC’s subsidiaries achieve their goal of 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
