Since mid-November, heightened hostilities from Houthi militia targeting vessels passing through the Red Sea have resulted in swaths of merchant fleet avoiding the key trade route. The Red Sea connects to the Suez Canal—the shortest sea route between Asia and Europe.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/sjvn-green-signs-power-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>SJVN Green Energy, the wholly owned subsidiary of </strong><strong>SJVN</strong><strong>, has entered into a power usage agreement with Jammu and Kashmir Power Corporation Limited</strong></a> for 300 MW solar power capacity. The 300 MW of power will be supplied to JKPCL from the 1,000 MW Bikaner solar project being developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking program of the India Renewable Energy Development Agency at a cost of ₹54.91 billion (~$662.3 million).</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/telangana-invites-bids-solar-kusum" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation has invited bids to set up two on-grid ground-mounted solar power projects</strong></a> with a cumulative capacity of 1,000 kW under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Yojana in Telangana. The scope of work includes design, supply, installation, and commissioning, using mono-PERC solar modules with sprinkler or water jet system and pipelining for module cleaning, and comprehensive maintenance for ten years.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/new-technology-ev-batteries-charge-faster" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Scientists at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory have developed a new manufacturing process called BatMan</strong></a> that could improve electric vehicle (EV) batteries by making them charge faster and drive further. The new technology uses lasers to create small pore networks in battery electrodes. This allows ions to move through the battery more quickly during charging and discharging, resulting in faster charge times.</p>

<p>The estimated cost of the solar project is ₹66.3 million (~$799,759), which is inclusive of the total system cost and its installation, commissioning, transportation, insurance, comprehensive maintenance contract for five years, and fees and taxes.</p>
<p>The project has to be completed within six months of receiving the work order.</p>
<p>The scope of work includes design, supply, construction and erection, testing, commissioning, and operation and maintenance for five years.</p>
<p>The last date for submission of bids is March 4, 2024. Bids will be opened on the following day.</p>
<p>Bidders have to submit a tender document fee of ₹60,000 (~$722) and furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹500,000 ($6,024).</p>
<p>The net worth of the bidders for the last financial year should be positive. Their minimum average annual turnover from operations must be ₹250 million ($3.02 million) or possess minimum ownership of 2 MW solar power projects over the last five financial years.</p>
<p>Bidders should demonstrate experience as a contractor or subcontractor in at least one contract that has been completed within the last ten years. The value of the bidder’s participation must exceed ₹250 million ($3.02 million) in a solar project with a minimum capacity of 3,000 kW.</p>
<p>Further, bidders must have experience in establishing a minimum of 3 MW of unipolar tracked, with Seasonal Tilt Mechanism, ground-mounted solar power project. This should either be self-owned or as an engineering, procurement, and construction contractor.</p>
<p>Only solar modules that are empaneled or IEC-certified under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy specifications can be used in the project.</p>
<p>Last May, Ratnagiri Zilla Parishad <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/maharashtra-1-mw-ground-mounted-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to commission a 1 MW solar project in Golap district.</p>

<p>The project should be a ground-mounted unipolar-tracked, seasonal-tilt arrangement.</p>
<p>It should be completed within six months of receiving the work order. The developer should also oversee the project&#8217;s operation and maintenance service for three years.</p>
<p>The last day to submit the project is June 1, 2023. Bids will be opened on the next day.</p>
<p>Bidders should submit an earnest money deposit of ₹510,000 (~$6,170). The selected bidders should furnish a security deposit of 3% of the project cost.</p>
<p>Bidders should have commissioned a solar project of at least 3 MW capacity at a single location, along with the installation of a minimum 33 kV transmission line. They should possess the synchronization permission and provide a commercial operation date certificate from MSEDCL.</p>
<p>Additionally, they should have extended the transmission line by approximately 4 to 5 kilometers, ensuring compliance with right-of-way regulations.</p>
<p>Cumulative commissioned solar capacity will not be considered for this project.</p>
<p>Bidders should have an average annual turnover of ₹250 million (~$3.02 million) from operations or ownership of 3 MW solar projects during the last three years.</p>
<p>The modules must be warranted for their material, manufacturing defects, and workmanship for ten years. The output peak watt capacity should not be less than 90% at the end of 10 years and 80% at the end of 25 years.</p>
<p>The developer should ensure a capacity utilization factor of 20%.</p>
<p>If the developer fails to commission the project within the stipulated time, liquidated damages will be levied at 0.5% per week, up to 10% of the delayed work value beyond the contract period.</p>
<p>Maharashtra State Power Generation Company <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/maharashtra-bids-62-mw-solar-project-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids for installing and commissioning a 62 MW grid-connected solar power project with the associated high-tension overhead transmission line, underground cable, and electrical equipment in Akola, Maharashtra.</p>
