<p><strong>Atlas Renewable Energy, a solar and wind project developer, </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/atlas-renewable-energy-secures-113-million-financing-for-solar-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>secured</strong></a><strong> a COP 473.77 billion (~$113 million) senior loan</strong> to develop, construct, and operate the 201 MW Shangri-La solar project in the Tolima Department of Colombia. IDB Invest and Bancolombia provided the financial package. The project is expected to reach commercial operation at the end of 2025.</p>
<p><strong>Sol Systems, a solar finance and development company, </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/sol-systems-acquires-2-gw-of-hybrid-solar-and-storage-projects/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the acquisition of over 2 GW of utility-scale hybrid solar and storage projects</strong> across the Midwest from Tenaska, the Omaha-based energy company. The portfolio spans multiple states within the Midwest. The projects, each exceeding 100 MW, are expected to reach commercial operation between 2028 and 2029.</p>
<p><strong>Eurowind Energy, a Danish-based renewable energy project developer, </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/eurowind-energy-acquires-eleven-solar-projects-totaling-55-mw-in-portugal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the signing of a shares purchase agreement in August to acquire 11 solar projects</strong> with 5 MWac capacity each. Most of the projects are grouped in clusters of three (15 MW each), and all are in the Aveiro district in the center of Portugal. The projects are currently in an advanced stage of development and are expected to reach the ready-to-build stage between Q3 2024 and Q2 2025.</p>
<p><strong>OX2, a solar and energy storage project developer, announced the </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/ox2-sells-two-solar-projects-totaling-137-mw-in-australia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>sale</strong></a><strong> of two solar projects totaling 137 MWp/105 MWac to European Energy</strong>, a Danish renewable energy project developer. The deal includes project rights for the 106 MWp/80 MWac Lancaster solar in Victoria and the 31 MWp/25 MWac Mulwala solar in New South Wales, Australia. The construction of both projects is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025, and commercial operations are expected in 2026.</p>
<p><strong>Encavis, a solar and wind project developer, has </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/encavis-secures-67-million-financing-for-114-mw-solar-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>signed</strong></a><strong> a non-recourse project financing agreement of €60.7 million (~$67.10 million) for its 114.2 MW Lindenhof solar project</strong> in Germany. Bayerische Landesbank, a long-standing financing partner of ENCAVIS for years, provided the financing, thereby supporting the group’s future growth strategy. In total, the funding includes €46.8 million (~$51.73 million) in term loan facilities, a €2.75 million (~$3.04 million) VAT facility, and €11.1 million (~$12.27 million) in letter of credit facilities.</p>

The company will also acquire a 26 MW wind project in the province of Łódź. The transaction is valued at approximately PLN 1.15 billion (~$0.29 billion).</p>
<p><strong>OX2, a solar and energy storage project developer, </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/ox2-sells-energy-storage-project-in-finland/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>signed</strong></a><strong> an agreement to sell the ready-to-build 50 MW/110 MWh Uusnivala battery energy storage project</strong> to the L&amp;G NTR Clean Power Fund, which will manage the project’s construction. NTR, a renewable energy asset manager, completed the transaction on behalf of the fund.</p>
<p><strong>FRV Australia, a renewable energy project developer and part of Jameel Energy and the Canadian infrastructure fund OMERS, </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/frv-australia-secures-785-million-refinancing-for-solar-portfolio/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>secured</strong></a><strong> A$1.2 billion (~$0.785 billion) in refinancing</strong> for its solar project portfolio, which has a total installed capacity close to 1 GW. The portfolio consists of eight solar projects in operation or under construction. The debt package includes a term loan that refinances the portfolio’s actual debt, plus a Letter of Credit facility and a working capital facility to support FRV Australia’s development activities across the country.</p>
<p><strong>Enlight Renewable Energy, a utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage project developer, </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/enlight-secures-financing-for-atrisco-energy-storage-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the financial close for the energy storage portion</strong> of its Atrisco Solar and Energy Storage project. The project, which has a solar generation capacity of 364 MW coupled with 1.2 GWh of energy storage capacity, is located outside Albuquerque, New Mexico.</p>
<p><strong>DRI, an Amsterdam-based renewable energy company and a subsidiary of DTEK Group, </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/dri-acquires-133-mw-energy-storage-project-in-poland/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the acquisition of a 133 MW/532 MWh energy storage project</strong> in Trzebinia, Poland. DRI acquired 100% of the shares from Columbus Energy, a Polish renewable energy services provider. The company acquired the rights to build the project in March 2024, with commercial operations expected to begin in January 2027.</p>
<p><strong>Scatec, a renewable energy solutions provider, announced <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/scatec-secures-financing-solar-projects-tunisia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">financial</a> closure for the Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur solar projects, which have a total capacity of 120 MW in Tunisia</strong> (each 60 MW). According to the signed partnership agreement, Scatec will jointly develop and own the projects with Aeolus, a joint venture of Japanese conglomerate Toyota Tsusho Corporation.</p>

<p><strong>OX2, a solar and energy storage project developer, reached an agreement to </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/ox2-sells-42-5-mw-energy-storage-project-in-sweden/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>sell</strong></a><strong> the 42.5 MW/ 42.5 MWh Bredhälla energy storage</strong> project in Sweden to Flower, an energy technology and energy storage solutions provider. OX2 started construction of the project in late 2022, which is located in the municipality of Uppvidinge in southern Sweden. The facility consists of batteries utilizing lithium-ion technology.</p>
<p><strong>Ib vogt, a developer of solar and storage projects, has </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/ib-vogt-secured-funding-for-95-mw-solar-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>secured</strong></a><strong> €60 million (~$65.1 million) in project funding to build and operate a 95.18 MW solar project in Spain.</strong> Banco Santander, a Madrid-based multinational financial services company, provided the funding. Clifford Chance, a London-based multinational law firm, advised Ib vogt on the project financing. The company will use the funds to construct, operate, and maintain the solar project, which will be built in the Segovia province in the Castile and Leon region of Spain.</p>
<p><strong>RWE, a German power generation company, and PPC, a Greece-based utility company, have signed </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/rwe-and-ppc-closed-funding-for-730-mwp-solar-project-portfolio/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>loan</strong></a><strong> agreements </strong>with Alpha Bank, Eurobank, and National Bank of Greece for the construction of a portfolio of solar projects with a total capacity of 730 MWp (691 MWac) in Amyntaio, Western Macedonia, with contribution from Recovery and Resilience Fund. The projects will be developed by METON Energy, a joint venture of RWE Renewables Europe &amp; Australia (51%) and PPC Renewables (49%), subsidiaries of RWE and PPC, respectively.</p>
<p><strong>DWS, an asset manager, has <a href="https://www.x-elio.com/dws-acquires-a-portfolio-of-147-mw-in-solar-assets-from-x-elio-in-spain/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the acquisition of three solar projects in Spain totaling 147 MW from X-ELIO, a company specializing in developing, constructing, financing</strong>, and operating solar projects. The three projects are located in Medina de las Torres, Badajoz, and started operations in mid-2023. The three plants will generate an average estimated supply of renewable energy to the equivalent of 91,800 households per year.</p>

Project Finance Brief: OX2 Sells 42.5 MWh Energy Storage Project in Sweden

<p><strong>Voltalia, a renewable energy power producer, </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/voltalia-sells-solar-project-in-brazil-to-newave-energia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>sold</strong></a><strong> its 420 MW solar project to Newave Energia, a partnership between Gerdau and Newave FIP in Brazil</strong>. Newave Energia will rely on Voltalia to construct and maintain electrical infrastructure. Newave Energia’s future photovoltaic power plants will avoid the emission of approximately 350 kilotons of CO2 annually. The project sold is a part of the larger Arinos cluster. The cluster has a total potential capacity of over 1.8 GW, and Voltalia will be responsible for developing the entire cluster, including this sold project.</p>
<p><strong>ABO Wind, a renewable energy project developer, has </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/abo-wind-sells-solar-project-in-south-africa/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>sold</strong></a><strong> a 100 MW solar project in South Africa to an undisclosed acquirer</strong>. The project is the third photovoltaic facility within a cluster comprising a total of 300 MW. The project is located on 450 hectares of privately owned land in the North-West Province of South Africa. The other 200 MW had already been sold by ABO Wind in 2022.</p>
<p><strong>OCP Group, a phosphate-based fertilizer producer, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/ocp-secures-green-loan-for-400-mw-of-solar-projects/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that it has entered into an agreement under which IFC will provide OCP with a €100 million (~$105.54 million) green loan</strong> for the construction of two solar projects totaling 400 MW and up to 100 MWh of battery storage, making this the first large scale solar photovoltaic project with integrated storage infrastructure in Morocco – and the largest in North Africa. IFC’s green loan agreement with OCP is part of its strategy to increase climate-related investments and projects in emerging markets, decarbonize economies, and adapt to a warming planet.</p>
<p><strong>OX2, a Sweden-based renewable energy company that develops, funds, and manages large-scale projects, signed an agreement to </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/ox2-sells-23-mw-agripv-project-in-france/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>sell</strong></a><strong> a 23 MW AgriPV project</strong> located in the Loiret region, France, to CVE, a France-based independent renewable energy power producer. CVE will carry out the construction of the solar project, and the commissioning is expected to be during the first quarter of 2026. The project is OX2’s first in AgriPV, where solar panels are combined with agriculture, farming, or livestock.</p>

Project Finance Brief: Voltalia Sells 420 MW Solar Project to Newave Energia

					</table><p><a href="https://www.ox2.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">OX2</a>, a Swedish renewable energy company, said it would develop offshore wind projects amounting to 1.4 GW in the Gulf of Bothnia in the Finnish economic zone.</p>
<p>The wind farm will be located southwest of Vaasa, about 30 kilometers northwest of Kaskinen. It will comprise about 100 turbines and have an annual production of about 6TWh.</p>
<p>OX2 received a research permit for the Tyrsky wind farm from the Finnish government in 2022.</p>
<p>The licensing period is estimated to be about four years, and the wind farm is expected to be operational around 2030.</p>
<p>Paul Stormoen, CEO of the company, said that offshore wind farms are the fastest and most cost-effective way to build large-scale electricity production.</p>
<p>“The shift towards hydrogen, fossil-free industries, and general electrification demands huge amounts of renewable energy… I am happy to announce we have included another project in our portfolio of great projects,” Stormoen added.</p>
<p>OX2 currently has two major offshore wind farms in Finland and is also developing offshore wind farms outside Åland and Sweden. At the end of the third quarter, the portfolio of offshore wind projects was at 18.3 GW.</p>
<p>The current project will be included in the company’s project development portfolio for the first quarter of 2023.</p>
<p>OX2’s project development portfolio consists of both in-house developed as well as acquired wind and solar projects in various phases of development. The company is also involved in developing projects based on other renewable energy technologies, such as hydrogen and energy storage.</p>
<p>OX2 is presently operating in ten European markets: Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, France, Spain, Italy, and Greece.</p>
<p><strong> </strong>In March 2022, the Swedish renewable energy company <a href="https://corporate.ox2.com/financial-reports/ox2-expands-its-business-to-greece-by-acquiring-two-portfolios/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acquired</a> two portfolios in Greece with an installed capacity of 500 MW. The portfolios comprise solar and onshore wind projects in various development stages and are diversified across various regions of the country. OX2 will develop the projects with local co-development partners.</p>
<p>Recently, Italy’s transmission system operator (TSO) Terna SpA <a href="https://mercomindia.com/hexicon-inches-to-developing-7-1-gw-wind-projects-italy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> six of Sweden-based Hexicon’s seven proposed floating wind power projects for connection to the national grid. The combined capacity of the six sites is 7,100 MW, while the permit for the one remaining site is pending.<strong> </strong></p>


OX2 to Develop 1.4 GW Offshore Wind Projects in Finland

<p>Here are some noteworthy cleantech announcements of the day from around the world:</p>
<p><strong>Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (<a href="https://karunadu.karnataka.gov.in/kerc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KERC</a>) has condoned the delay in commissioning a 3 MW solar project by Nadagouda Energies in Jalageri Village, Vijayapura District. </strong>The Commission found that the delay constitutes a ‘force majeure’ event caused by delays in securing approvals from government institutions. The Commission said Nadagouda Energies is entitled to the tariff at ₹8.40 (~$0.11)/kWh per the power purchase agreement. The Commission directed Hubli Electric Supply Company (<a href="https://hescom.karnataka.gov.in/english" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HESCOM</a>) to pay the difference in tariff paid per unit from the project&#8217;s commissioning date and the late payment surcharge within two months. It also ordered HESCOM not to levy liquidated damages, and if already levied, the same must be refunded within two months.</p>
<p><a href="https://heroelectric.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Hero Electric</strong></a><strong>, the two-wheeler electric vehicle (EV) company, announced a partnership with </strong><a href="https://www.electricpe.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>ElectricPe</strong></a><strong>, an EV charging platform, allowing its customers to access ElectricPe’s charging network across India.</strong> Hero Electric customers will be able to access ElectricPe’s charging network across residential complexes, offices, malls, and other establishments.</p>
<p><strong>Intel Corporation </strong><a href="https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/newsroom/news/net-zero-greenhouse-gas-emissions-operations.html#gs.wt9uuz" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>pledged</strong></a><strong> to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in its global operations by 2040. </strong>The company aims to increase energy efficiency, lower the carbon footprint of Intel products and platforms with specific goals, and work with customers and industry partners to create solutions that lower the greenhouse gas footprint of the entire technology ecosystem. The company aims to achieve 100% renewable electricity use across its global operations by 2030 and invest approximately $300 million in energy conservation at its facilities to achieve 4 billion cumulative kWh of energy savings. It plans to build new factories and facilities to meet U.S. Green Building Council LEED program standards, including recently announced investments in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and launch a cross-industry R&amp;D initiative to identify greener chemicals with lower global warming potential and develop new abatement equipment.</p>
<p><strong>Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (</strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/blackrock-mubadala-to-invest-%e2%82%b940-billion-in-tata-power/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>KSERC</strong></a><strong>) has permitted Kerala State Electricity Board (</strong><a href="https://kseb.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>KSEBL</strong></a><strong>) to sign a tripartite power purchase agreement (TPPA) with INOX Wind Energy and DJ Malpani</strong>. KSEBL will procure power from INOX’s 16 MW wind project located at Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation’s integrated industrial park in Kanjikode. DJ Malpani is an investor in INOX’s 16 MW wind project. The levelized tariff for the electricity generated from the 16 MW wind project is approved at ₹4.09/kWh (~$0.05)/kWh, duly considering the benefit of accelerated depreciation. KSEBL must sign TPPA within two months from the issuance of the order.</p>
<p><strong>OX2, a Sweden-based renewable energy project developer, </strong><a href="https://corporate.ox2.com/financial-reports/ox2-expands-its-operations-to-estonia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>signed</strong></a><strong> a cooperation agreement with TMV Green Oü to develop about 500 MW onshore wind projects in Estonia. </strong>TMV Green will be responsible for land use, licensing, and grid connection and OX2 will be responsible for the financing, construction, and implementing of the projects in the portfolio. The projects OX2 and TMV Green will cooperate around are in an early phase and is not part of OX2’s project development portfolio.</p>
