As companies seek to manage rising electricity costs, improve energy security, and meet sustainability targets, the demand for clean energy solutions across the C&amp;I segment continues to expand rapidly.
Rising grid tariffs are forcing businesses to opt for rooftop and open-access options, which can help them reduce their carbon footprint and procure power at lower rates.
Against this backdrop, developers, corporate buyers, lenders, and technology providers will convene for the fifth edition of the C&amp;I Clean Energy Meet 2026 at Courtyard by Marriott in Bhopal on March 13, 2026, to discuss the evolving landscape of corporate renewable energy procurement.

Madhya Pradesh’s capital city, Bhopal, is home to key industries like heavy electricals, engineering goods, and automobile components. Businesses in the city are gradually shifting towards cheaper renewable energy options.
Madhya Pradesh ranks eighth in cumulative solar open access capacity, with open access accounting for nearly 23% of the state’s cumulative large-scale solar capacity. Installations grew by 142% year-over-year in 2025, indicating growing C&amp;I demand for clean energy.
The market outlook remains positive as the state works toward its target of meeting 50% of power demand from renewable sources by 2030, with upcoming implementation rules and alignment with the Ministry of Power’s renewable consumption obligation expected to foster the growth of procurement of clean power by C&amp;I entities in the state.
The C&amp;I Clean Energy Meet will explore regulatory developments, business models, financing structures, and emerging technologies that are shaping the growth of clean energy adoption among C&amp;I consumers.
The day-long event will begin with registration for the event at 9:30 AM.
The inaugural session will follow, led by Deepak Sharma, President, <a href="https://www.fmpcci.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Federation of Madhya Pradesh Chamber of Commerce &amp; Industry</a>.
The first session will be a panel discussion on ‘Harnessing the Green Route to Reducing Electricity Bills,’ featuring Sudheer Graimella, General Manager-Business Development at <a href="https://www.candi.solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Candi Solar</a> and Nitin Jain, General Manager, Business Development at <a href="https://inoxclean.com/inox-neo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Inox Neo Energies</a>.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on ‘Switching to Renewable Energy and Optimizing Savings,’ featuring Rahul Makahaniya, Chief Marketing Officer at <a href="https://soleosenergy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Soleos Energy</a> and Seshagiri Meka, Chief Executive Officer at <a href="https://www.winsolindia.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Winsol Green Solutions</a>.
The panel discussion will be followed by a tea break, after which there will be a case study presentation by Candi Solar.

					</table>Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (<a href="https://www.iiserb.ac.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IISER</a>) Bhopal has issued an engineering, procurement, and construction tender to set up a 2 MW solar project on its premises on a turnkey basis.
Only bidders shortlisted under the tender <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/iiser-bhopal-floats-tender-for-2-mw-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> on July 21, 2025, are eligible to participate.
Bids must be submitted by December 29, 2025. Bids will be opened on December 30.
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹2.4 million (~$26,712.5).
Selected bidders must submit a performance bank guarantee of 5% of the contract value for the whole project, 5% of the price of the solar modules, and 5% of the total operation and maintenance (O&amp;M) contract value.
The scope of work entails the design, engineering, procurement, supply, construction, testing, and commissioning of the solar project. It also involves providing O&amp;M services for 10 years.
Successful bidders must provide all labor, materials, construction plant, equipment, transportation, and temporary works for the project. They must provide storage for the equipment and labor accommodation.
Selected bidders must ensure the power evacuation from the solar project to a 33 kV substation. They must also provide high-tension underground cables, along with the equipment and bays up to the interconnection point at the substation.
The scope of work includes the timely replacement of all civil, mechanical, and electrical components during the O&amp;M period. Additionally, it involves undertaking the civil and electrical work for the project.
Only modules complying with the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers must be used. The project must use N-type TOPCon bifacial cells complying with the Domestic Content Requirements.
The project must have a minimum wattage of 550 W per module and a module efficiency level of at least 22%.
The project must be commissioned within five months.
Last year, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/iit-hyderabad-3-5-mw-captive-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> expressions of interest to set up a 3.5 MW captive solar project.

IISER Bhopal Invites Bids from Shortlisted Parties for 2 MW Solar Project

					</table>Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation (<a href="https://smartbhopal.city/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BSPDCL</a>) has invited bids to set up two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations with five charging points per station under a public-private partnership model.
The successful bidder will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of charging stations for ten years.
The selected vendor will be responsible for designing, supplying, installing, and maintaining the EV charging stations at the identified locations in Bhopal City. The project aims to establish a robust and user-friendly charging infrastructure that meets the requirements of EV owners while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
The last date to submit the bids is August 14, 2023. Bids will be opened the following day.
Bidders must submit ₹200,000 (~$2,438) as an earnest money deposit. The successful bidder will have to furnish an amount equivalent to ₹1 million (~$12,188) as a performance bank guarantee within seven days of intimation by the authority.
BSPDCL intends to set up EV chargers at two locations having five charging points per location. The two locations are:

<li>Bhopal Municipal parking near Hotel Ranjit Lake View</li>
<li>Near Multi-Level Car Parking, MP Nagar</li>
</ul>
The locations for setting public charging stations will be allotted on a concessional basis initially for a lease period of ten years with clearly demarcated service level agreements.
The installation and commissioning of the EV charging stations should be completed within 90 days.
To be eligible, the bidder should have executed at least two projects of high-speed (DC) public charging stations during the last seven years.
The average annual turnover of the bidder during the last three financial years should be at least ₹8 million (~$97,502).
The bidder should have a positive net worth as per the last audited financial year.
Also, the bidder should possess a valid electrical contractor&#8217;s license issued from the relevant government service provider.
The service provider will ensure that the charging infrastructure is accessible 24&#215;7 for the consumers, and the safety and security of the premises will be the service provider&#8217;s responsibility.
The application, deployment, and maintenance of the required electrical connection will be the service provider&#8217;s responsibility.
In December last year, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/madhya-pradesh-bids-installing-ev-charging-stations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> a request for proposal to set up EV charging stations at various facilities for ten years.
Earlier, Satna Municipal Corporation in Madhya Pradesh had <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/bids-invited-10-ev-charging-stations-madhya-pradesh" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to set up ten charging stations for EVs at various locations in the city.

Bhopal Invites Bids to Set Up EV Charging Stations

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (<a href="http://www.bhopalmunicipal.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BMC</a>) has issued a request for proposal (RfP) for the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 15 MW wind power project in Madhya Pradesh.
The developer will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the project for 25 years, which will be based on annuity payments linked to monthly unit generation.
The last day to submit the bids is June 22, 2022. Bids will be opened on June 23.
The BMC intends to use this project&#8217;s power for its captive use in various pumping stations located in the Bhopal district.
The wind power project is proposed to be set up to complement the power supplied to BMC’s two 10 MW solar projects being set up in Neemuch District. These projects will supply power to water pumping stations, which require power even at night.
The wind power project will supply power from 5 pm until 10 am the next day when solar power is not ramped to its peak. The power from the wind project will be scheduled for these connections during other periods.
Bidders will have to submit a document fee of ₹25,000 (~$322.46) and an earnest money deposit of ₹5 million (~$64,493)
The selected developer must submit two separate initial performance security guarantees amounting to ₹20 million (~$257,973) within 30 days from receiving the award. This amount would be for the contract agreement of the project with an initial validity of 36 months plus a three-month claim period. The initial performance security will be released 12 months after commissioning the projects with the capacity utilization factor (CUF) parameter.
If any shortfall in achievement of notified CUF is reported during the period, then performance security in that ratio will be retained and released only after the demonstration of the notified parameter in the subsequent year.
The developer must also submit a security deposit at the rate of ₹5 million (~$64,493) for the project on achieving the commercial operation date, for the O&amp;M period with an initial validity of three years, and then to be renewed for a block of three years.
The developer will also be required to pay the BMC consultant a project development fee plus the goods and service tax (GST). The selected bidder will have to pay ₹1.4 million (~$18,057) within a week from the award and ₹930,000 (~$11,995) within a month of completing 50% of the foundation work of the wind turbine generators. The amount of ₹930,000 (~$11,995) has to be paid within a month of commissioning the project, and ₹930,000 (~$11,995) within one month after a year of operation.
The developer will also be responsible for identifying and acquiring the land and setting up single grid connectivity and metering arrangement with the grid substation. The power generated from the project will be injected into a distribution company or Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation’s (MPPTCL) substation at a 33 kV level. The permission to obtain connectivity from Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Corporation or MPPTCL will be part of the developer’s obligation.
Bidders must have experience developing and commissioned grid-connected wind power projects of cumulative capacity not less than 30 MW in the last seven years. Out of this, they must have developed at least one 10 MW wind project.
Bidders must have an average annual turnover of at least ₹750 million (~$9.67 million) during the last three financial years ending March 31, 2021. They must have a net worth of ₹300 million (~$3.87 million). The net worth of the joint venture partners, if any, must be positive.

Bhopal Municipal Corporation Invites Proposals for a 15 MW Wind Power Project

<a href="http://www.bhopalmunicipal.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Municipal Corporation Bhopal</a> has invited bids from consultants to provide consultancy services to set up 20 MW of solar projects to supply power to its high tension (HT) consumers.
The last date to submit the bids is June 16, 2022. Bids will be opened the following day.
The project&#8217;s estimated cost is ₹16 million (~$206,240), and the contract will be valid for 18 months.
Bidders will have to submit ₹80,000 (~$1,031) as an earnest money deposit. When the letter of intent is issued, the successful bidder will have to furnish ₹1 million (~$12,890) as a performance bank guarantee.
The objective of the tender is to engage the services of a reputed consultant for support in setting up solar power projects to supply power under various modes.
The bidder or the designated member of the consulting team should have work experience of a minimum of ten years in renewable energy-based projects, out of which a minimum of seven years should be in the solar systems-based power projects.
The bidder or designated member of the consulting team should have work experience in the power sector of a minimum of ten years for government organizations.
The minimum turnover of the firm from consultancy services should not be less than ₹10 million (~$128,900) in the previous three financial years. The bidder must provide documentary evidence in the form of certificates from the consultant&#8217;s statutory auditor, certifying the revenues during the last three financial years.
The bidder should not be a loss-making entity.
The consultant will be responsible for identifying the solar capacity that will be set up and also grouping the solar capacity to optimize project execution.
The consulting firm will also be responsible for suggesting appropriate power evacuation and identifying suitable electrical substations and other electrical requirements.
The project development fee will be paid on the successful completion of stages of work. The fee will be based on a notional cost of ₹40 million (~$515,600)/MW of solar capacity to be executed.
If the study is delayed beyond the deadline, a penalty of 1% per week, and a maximum of up to 10% of the contract amount, will be levied.
In January this year, Bhopal Municipal Corporation <a href="https://mercomindia.com/bhopal-floats-epc-tender-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids from engineering, procurement, and construction contractors to set up two solar projects of 10 MW each in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. Consultancy Tender Floated for 20 MW of Solar Projects in Bhopal

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Bhopal has launched an expression of interest (EoI) for establishing a solar photovoltaic (SPV) power project based on RESCO (renewable energy service company) model. The project is slated to be installed on an approximately six-kilometer peripheral road at IISER.
The bid submission deadline is September 4, 2019.
Currently, a 345 kW RESCO rooftop grid-connected solar project has been installed on the campus.
The entire electricity supply unit of IISER is equipped with a diesel generator backup. The EoI states that presently, the electrical load of IISER Bhopal is approximately 2 MW and in the future, it may go up to 5 MW after expansion. The grid power is taken from Shanti Nagar substation through 33 kV feeder, approximately 12 km away from the campus.
The current tender is an initiative by the institution to procure power from renewable sources. The project will be executed on a build own operate transfer (BOOT) method for 25 years and a 25-year warranty.
Scope of Work:
The six-kilometer road located peripherally on the campus provides an area of 21,000 square meters for the installation of the solar project. The scope of work is to design, engineer, supply, install, test, commission, and maintain the solar power projects on approximately seven kilometers of the peripheral road at the campus.
The solar modules and arrays must be designed and engineered along with the related systems comprising DC (direct current) systems, cables, junction boxes, inverters, and mounting structures. The survey and the route finalization of the transmission line to connect the project to the substation will also be done by the successful bidder apart from the construction of an office and control room.
The eligibility criteria of the bidder state that the applicant should be an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contractor with the ability to execute large-scale turnkey projects involving at least 1 MW of solar power projects. Also, the bidder should have executed at least one project on the date of opening of the expression of interest (EoI). More importance will be given to a bidder with installations of 2 MW or more. The bidder should also own a facility for manufacturing solar modules with an efficiency of more than 19%. The applicant should have an average annual turnover of ₹30 million (~$ 417,363) for the last three financial years.
Schools and colleges in India are <a href="https://mercomindia.com/schools-colleges-going-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">turning to solar</a> power to meet their energy requirements sustainably. Due to surging electricity bills and the desire to protect the environment, more and more educational institutions are turning to solar to meet their daily energy needs.
Recently, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) <a href="https://mercomindia.com/aiims-bidders-solar-haryana/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">also invited Expressions of Interest</a> from bidders to set up 10 MW of solar projects at the National Cancer Institute located at Badsa in the state of Haryana.
