Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has invited bids to set up a 1,500 kW grid-connected rooftop solar project at its facility in Piplani, Bhopal. The project will connect to the internal 415 V system at the factory, including the 415 V switchgear of the load center.
Bids must be submitted by June 3, 2026.
Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹600,000 (~$6,300).
The successful bidder must submit a performance bank guarantee of ₹4.5 million (~$47,100), split into ₹900,000 (~$9,400) and ₹3.6 million (~$37,600).
The scope of work includes design, engineering, procurement, construction, synchronization, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the plant, as well as the sale of electricity to BHEL for 25 years from the commercial operation date.
The scope also includes the development of the power evacuation network up to the BHEL or the nearest substation, metering infrastructure, inverter, and remote-monitoring accommodation, as well as arrangements for permits, clearances, and water supply, at the developer’s own cost.
The project must be commissioned within six months of the effective date of the power purchase agreement (PPA), with the PPA to be signed within 60 days of the letter of intent.
Bidders must have executed at least one rooftop solar project with a capacity of 500 kW and must have operated and maintained a similar-capacity project for a minimum of one year.
Bidders must have an average net worth of at least ₹7 million (~$73,200) across financial years 2023, 2024, and 2025. They must also have a minimum annual turnover of ₹10 million (~$104,600) in each of these financial years.
The projects must use components complying with the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.
Liquidated damages will apply for delays. The successful bidder must pay ₹30,000 (~$314) per day for delays of up to one month and ₹60,000 (~$627) per day for delays of up to three months. Delays beyond three months may lead to termination of the contract.
Recently, BHEL invited bids to select a developer to set up a 1,130 kW rooftop solar project integrated with a 4,520 kWh battery energy storage system at its Ramachandrapuram facility in Hyderabad.
