Suzlon Energy (SEL) has secured a 105 MW wind turbine order from renewable energy developer Sunsure Energy for a project in Karnataka.
The order marks the first commercial deployment of Suzlon’s S175 wind turbine.
The order increases Suzlon’s cumulative partnership to 400.8 MW and is its third one from Sunsure Energy in the past 14 months.
Suzlon will supply, erect, commission, and maintain 21 S175 wind turbine generators for the project in the Bijapur district of Karnataka
The 5 MW wind turbine platform features a 175-meter rotor and a 160-meter hybrid lattice tower, designed to access stronger wind regimes and improve energy yields.
Girish Tanti, vice chairman of Suzlon Group, said Sunsure Energy has expanded its deployments with Suzlon from an initial 2.1 MW platform to the company’s 3 MW platform and is now the launch customer for the S175 turbine.
Manish Mehta, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Sunsure Energy, said the company selected the S175 as part of its strategy to develop firm and dispatchable renewable energy solutions that can be integrated into hybrid and round-the-clock projects.
Sunsure Energy has 800 MW of operational renewable energy assets and 8.30 GW of projects under development and construction across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. It targets 10 GW of operational capacity by 2030.
Recently, Suzlon Energy secured an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to develop a 400 MW wind energy project in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, pushing the company’s order book in the southern state to around 1 GW.
Earlier this year, Suzlon Group had secured a repeat wind turbine order of approximately 100 MW from the Gas Authority of India, marking the sixth project between the two companies and the fourth public-sector undertaking order won by Suzlon in the financial year 2026.
