Suzlon Energy (SEL) has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to develop a 400 MW wind energy project in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, pushing the company’s orderbook in the southern state to around 1 GW.

At present, Suzlon’s installed base in Andhra Pradesh is around 1.8 GW, accounting for about 28.44% of its total installed base in southern India.

The contract was awarded by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), taking the cumulative partnership between the two companies to over 1 GW spanning across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.

The project is a repeat order for Suzlon from TPREL in less than 12 months.

Suzlon would install 127 of its S144 wind turbine generators with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. The company will also be responsible for land acquisition, turbine supply, Balance of Plant, pooling substations, Extra High Voltage Line, commissioning, and operations and maintenance services.

Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer, Suzlon Group, said, “As customers seek execution certainty, EPC is emerging as the preferred model for renewable energy deployment. We believe this integrated delivery model will play a critical role in accelerating India’s next phase of renewable energy growth.”

According to Mercom India Renewable Energy Project Tracker, the country has a total operational wind energy capacity of over 50 GW.

In January, Suzlon Group had bagged a 248.85 MW wind turbine generator order from steel and mining major ArcelorMittal through its Indian renewable energy entity to decarbonize steel production. The order was a part of a 500 MW hybrid energy project in Gujarat. Suzlon has 4.5 GW wind energy capacity in the state.

Suzlon Energy had reported a revenue of ₹54.68 billion (~$571.89 million) in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2026, marking a 44.9% year-on-year increase from ₹37.74 billion (~$394.71 million).
