Renewable solutions provider Sunsure Energy has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals to supply 19.36 MW of round-the-clock power from its wind and solar projects in Maharashtra.

The 19.36 MW projects comprise an 8.86 MW solar project in Dhule and a 10.5 MW wind project in Jath.

The power will be supplied to Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals’ facility located in Raigad.

The project is expected to generate approximate 55 million units annually.

In the financial year 2025, Deepak Fertilisers consumed 91.03 terajoules of power from renewable sources.

In the same year, it increased contracted demand from grid 14,000 to 21,000 kVA, to avail additional 19 MW of wind-solar hybrid renewable power from its captive project in Taloja, Maharashtra.

It is also drawing 1 MW of power from its captive solar project in Dahej, Gujarat. The company is evaluating the procurement of an additional 3 MW of wind-solar hybrid power.

Deepak Fertilisers has also started manufacturing solar-grade nitric acid, which enhances solar cell efficiency and reduces energy losses.

“We are also exploring growth opportunities in solar photovoltaics and semiconductors, where demand for high-purity specialty chemicals is set to rise with increased public and private investment,” the company said in its annual report 2024-25.

Sunsure has a portfolio of 600 MW of operational assets and 7.10 GW of projects under various stages of development in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Karnataka.

The company has set a target of 10 GW installations by 2030.

Sunsure is backed by Partners Group AG, with an equity commitment of $400 million (~₹4.5 million).

In September, Sunsure commissioned an 82.5 MW group captive solar project in Erach, Jhansi, in Uttar Pradesh. The project will supply solar power to Haldiram’s, APL Apollo, and to one of the country’s largest data centers.

In April this year, Sunsure signed an agreement with Sunflag Iron and Steel, a Nagpur-headquartered company, to supply power from its 11 MW solar project in Dhule, Maharashtra.
