The Ministry of Railways has invited bids to set up 5 MW grid-connected flexible-module rooftop solar systems at the old buildings at Noapara metro railway station and other locations of Kolkata Metro Railways.
The last date to submit bids is February 11, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.
Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹1.8 million (~$20,013.7).
The project has an advertised value of ₹338.69 million (~$3.76 million).
The scope of work covers the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar systems.
It also covers comprehensive maintenance of the solar systems for five years.
Successful bidders must supply and install inverters, make lightning arrester arrangements, and provide the earthing system.
They must ensure bi-weekly cleaning of the solar systems during the five-year warranty period.
The solar systems must maintain a capacity utilization factor of 15%.
Selected bidders must have completed or substantially completed one of the following criteria in the last seven years:
- Three grid-connected solar projects, each costing at least 30% of the advertised tender value
- Two grid-connected solar projects, each costing at least 40% of the advertised tender value
- One grid-connected solar project costing at least 60% of the advertised tender value
Bidders must have a valid electrical contractor’s license from the government. An original equipment manufacturer of a module or solar inverter will be exempted from this mandate.
They must have a minimum average annual contractual turnover of V/N or ‘V’, whichever is less; where ‘V’ is the advertised value of the tender in crores, and ‘N’ is the number of years prescribed for completion of work for which bids have been invited.
The average annual contractual turnover will be calculated as an average of “total contractual payments” in the last three financial years.
In December 2025, Northeast Frontier Railway floated a tender for setting up a 1 MW ground-mounted solar project at the CMM/NJP Store Depot campus in New Jalpaiguri, under the Katihar Division, West Bengal.
