MNRE Floats Consultancy Tender for National Renewable Energy Portal Operations

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a tender to select an agency to undertake data collection, upkeep, operation, and maintenance of the National Renewable Energy Portal (NREP).
Bids must be submitted by April 16, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.
The estimated cost of the project is ₹26.42 million (~$283,553).
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹1 million (~$10,735).
The selected bidder must submit a performance security of 5% of the contract value.
The scope of work includes comprehensive data collection, validation, and aggregation of renewable energy data across India. The selected consultant will be responsible for NREP’s maintenance and updation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the information.
It also includes operational and technical management of the portal, which will involve deploying on-site consultants as required. In addition, the agency will handle maintenance functions such as troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and implementing system improvements to ensure the platform’s uninterrupted operation.
The project must be completed within two years, with a provision for extension of up to 25% of the contract period based on requirements.
Bidders must have at least seven years of experience in similar services. They must have executed comparable assignments for Central or State Governments or public sector undertakings, meeting the following thresholds: either three completed works, each costing at least 40% of the estimated project cost; or two works, each costing at least 50%; or one work costing at least 80% of the estimated value.
Recently, the MNRE approved a pilot Contracts for Difference program for renewable energy, with the Solar Energy Corporation of India designated as the nodal agency.
It also issued the draft Firmware Development Guidelines for local device configuration and remote communication application programming interface applicable to dataloggers deployed in rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
