TCIL seeks bids for 26 MW solar projects at airports in Oman

Rajasthan has unveiled its Renewable Energy Policy 2023, aiming to establish 90 GW of renewable energy projects by the financial year 2029-30. Solar projects will constitute 65 GW, wind and wind-solar hybrid 15 GW, hydropower, pumped storage projects, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects 10 GW. The state has also announced that renewable energy projects supplying power to entities other than DISCOMs will be charged with facilitation charges or will be mandated to supply 7% of the power to DISCOMs at no cost.

Telecommunications Consultants India has invited bids for the development of solar power projects of 20 MW at Muscat International Airport and 6 MW at Salalah Airport in Oman on an asset lease basis for a fixed tenure. The scope of the work includes design, engineering, supply, construction, testing, and commissioning, including operation and maintenance. The last date for the submission of bids is October 16, 2023. Bids will be opened the same day.

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission recently issued an order clarifying certain issues raised by Grid-India related to the implementation of General Network Access (GNA) regulations for projects connected to both state and central transmission utilities. In its submission, Grid-India highlighted the difficulties of implementing GNA Regulations and requested clarification on a few aspects.

Inox Green Energy Services (IGESL), an Inox Wind subsidiary, has signed a term sheet to divest its 100% stake in Nani Virani Wind Energy, a special purpose vehicle operating a 50 MW wind farm in Gujarat, aiming to cut its debt and enhance profitability. The divestment, amounting to ₹3 billion (~$36 million) that IGESL had borrowed to develop the Nani Virani wind project, is expected to help IGESL transition to an asset-light operation and maintenance business.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has unveiled a ₹4 billion (~$48.12 million) Research and Development (R&D) Roadmap for the National Green Hydrogen Mission, seeking to develop an ecosystem that can help commercialize green hydrogen. The R&D roadmap aims to advance fresh materials, technologies, and infrastructure to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of green hydrogen production, storage, and transportation.

Members of the European Parliament have voted to increase the share of renewable energy to 42.5% by 2030 as a part of the Renewable Energy Directive, a legal framework governing the development of clean energy across sectors driving the economy. The framework was agreed upon by the Parliament and the European Council in March this year in a bid to increase the European Union’s binding target from 32%. The legislation has been formally endorsed by the Council.
