Chidambaranar Port Authority Floats Tender for 6 MW Wind Project

The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 6 MW wind power project in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.
Bids must be submitted by May 8, 2025. Bids will be opened on May 9.
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹12.2 million (~$142,388), which must remain valid for 45 days beyond the final bid validity period.
The project’s estimated cost is ₹609.2 million (~$7.11 million).
The scope of work entails the design, engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of wind turbine generators with a supervisory control and data acquisition system. It also includes providing civil, electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and communication components and grid connectivity to the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Company.
Bidders must have completed the following:
- Three similar works, costing at least 40% of the estimated project value
- Two works, each costing 50% of the estimated value
- A single work costing 80% of the estimated value
Similar work is defined as executing EPC contracts for at least one wind turbine generator with a minimum capacity of 1 MW or operation/ownership of a wind farm with a minimum capacity of 50 MW.
Successful bidders must provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services for 11 years, including a two-year guarantee period.
They must commission the project within six months of the work’s commencement date.
The project’s wind turbine modules must be approved under the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers. The turbines must have been in continuous operation for at least one year.
Bidders must have an annual turnover of at least 30% of the estimated project cost in the last three financial years.
In September last year, the Tamil Nadu government announced repowering regulations for wind power projects aimed to replace old wind turbines and optimize wind energy potential.
In 2022, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin, invited bids to install a 5 MW grid-connected solar power project on a turnkey basis.
