Hyderabad-based energy storage solutions company TREX Energy has commissioned a lithium battery manufacturing facility at E-City in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The company also plans to expand its manufacturing operations with a second facility in Madhya Pradesh. The state government has allotted four acres of land to TREX Energy for the proposed second phase of its manufacturing expansion.
The commissioned facility features an automated module assembly line with a production rate of 12 parts per minute. The line is designed to manufacture 52S battery packs for 261 kWh and 5 MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS).
TREX Energy’s energy storage portfolio ranges from 5 kWh to 5 MWh, catering to residential, commercial and industrial, and utility-scale applications.
The company said the automated assembly line would support manufacturing efficiency, production consistency, and quality control.
TREX offers battery storage systems for factories, offices, and commercial facilities to manage electricity consumption, provide backup power, and improve operational resilience.
Its utility-scale battery storage solutions cater to grid applications and renewable energy projects. The company also manufactures residential energy storage systems and home inverter batteries.
Bharat S. Chhittarka, Director of TREX Energy, said the company was focusing on reducing financing costs to make BESS more affordable for the Indian market.
According to Mercom India’s Energy Storage Manufacturing Ecosystem Report, the country’s operational battery energy storage manufacturing capacity is heavily concentrated in downstream manufacturing, which accounts for 92% of the total, while cell manufacturing represents just 8%.
India’s downstream battery storage manufacturing capacity, including battery packs, containers, and integrated energy storage systems, stands at approximately 86 GWh.
The downstream buildout reflects the strong pipeline for BESS in India. The country’s energy storage pipeline has crossed 110 GWh across the under-development and pre-construction stages, according to data from the Mercom India Renewable Energy Project Tracker. The pipeline includes BESS and pumped storage projects.
