<p>Here are some noteworthy cleantech announcements of the day from around the world:</p>
<p><strong>NTPC Limited <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5fkuxFM9mE&amp;feature=youtu.be" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">has plans</a></strong><strong> to add over 5 GW of solar capacity in the next two years to build its overseas renewable energy portfolio in collaboration with the International Solar Alliance (ISA). </strong>The company is expected to add 30 GW of renewable energy projects by 2030. The company recently signed an agreement with the ISA for the implementation of solar projects in 47 member countries of the ISA.</p>
<p><strong>Violet Power, a U.S.-based solar startup, is <a href="https://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/solar-startup-violet-power-plans-wafer-cells-and-module-factory-in-washington" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">expected</a></strong><strong> to build a fully integrated manufacturing unit for the production of crystalline silicon solar cells in the Washington state.</strong> The company is expected to produce solar cells with an annual capacity between 300 MW to 500 MW. The solar startup also has further plans to manufacture panels and wafers at its Washington facility, which will make it the only manufacturing facility to produce all parts of the supply chain in the United States.</p>
<p><strong>D.E.Shaw Renewable Investments, a U.S.-based renewable energy producer, <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/d-e-shaw-renewable-investments-announces-the-signing-of-155mwac-of-ppas-in-utah-with-facebook-and-pacificorp-301126276.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">announced</a></strong><strong> the additional details </strong>related to the signing of the power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Rocket and Horseshoe solar project in Utah. The projects with around 155 MW of total capacity will support Facebook’s Eagle Mounted Data Centre through PPA with Rocky Mountain Power. The commercial operation of both the projects developed by the DESRI is expected to begin its commercial operation in 2022.</p>
<p><strong>First Solar said that it has <a href="http://www.firstsolar.com/en/Resources/Blogs/FirstSolarServesDistributedGeneration" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">teamed up</a></strong><strong> with Graybar, Kinect Solar, and WESCO Distribution to serve the distributed generation market in the United States.</strong> First Solar plans to provide its solar modules through its partner distributors to projects and consumers of all shapes and sizes so that they can power communities and businesses across the United States.</p>
<p><strong>Power Roll Limited, a developer of ultra low-cost and lightweight flexible solar PV, has <a href="https://www.powerroll.solar/news-8-september-2020" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">begun</a></strong><strong> the installation of an innovative solar mini-grid system to generate and store energy in a rural village located in Mukteshwar,</strong> situated in the Himalayas. The company teamed up with The Energy Resources Institute to install a modular system that comprises lightweight, portable solar to generate energy and an energy storage capability to enable energy use at night. The project is being funded through the Innovate UK’s Energy Catalyst 7 to evaluate the use of flexible PV film in powering rural, off-grid applications in developing regions.</p>
<p><strong>Thyssenkrupp Elevator, an elevator company, has collaborated with Amplus Solar to set up an onsite solar power project at their Pune facility.</strong> The company signed a power purchase agreement with Amplus to produce 820 kW of solar power for 20 years. Through this initiative, the company will generate 1.067 GW of green energy while reducing 774 MT of carbon emissions annually. The carport is unique in its construction, made up entirely of low weight, high strength Aluminium, and has a design to match the aesthetic requirement of the company.</p>
<p><strong>Rays Experts, an Indian solar developer, has commissioned a 10 MW solar park in Siwani, Haryana.</strong> The latest development is the part of an ongoing 40 MW of project spread across 150 acres of land, which was conceptualized back in 2017. Rays Experts has projects with a total capacity of 150 MW in the pipeline for the coming two years in Haryana.</p>
