<p>The West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/wberc-approves-bidding-terms-for-1-5-gw-rtc-renewable-power-procurement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> the bidding documents and most of the deviations proposed by West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company for procuring 1,500 MW of round-the-clock renewable energy, with an additional 500 MW green shoe option.</p>

The last date to submit bids is October 22, 2026. Bids will be opened on November 4.</p>
<p>The Defense Estates Office, Visakhapatnam Circle, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/defense-estates-floats-tender-for-25-mw-solar-project-in-andhra-pradesh" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to develop a 25 MW solar project at Bobbili Airfield in Andhra Pradesh under a design, build, finance, operate, maintain and transfer model. The last date to submit bids is October 22, 2026. Bids will be opened the following day.</p>
<p>The Tripura State Electricity Corporation <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/tripura-tenders-verification-work-for-adb-backed-renewable-energy-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited </a>bids to hire an independent verification agency for the verification of Disbursement-Linked Indicators under the ‘Transforming Renewable Energy Acceleration in Tripura’ program. <p>Engineering, procurement, and construction company Dilip Buildcon <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/dilip-buildcon-to-divest-stake-in-1-36-gw-solar-portfolio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> agreements with Alpha Alternatives Fund Advisors and its affiliates or managed funds to divest its stake in 10 special purpose vehicles developing a 1,363 MW solar portfolio in Madhya Pradesh.</p>
<p>Global renewable energy capacity additions must more than <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/global-renewable-capacity-must-double-to-reach-11-2-tw-by-2030-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">double</a> to reach 11.2 TW by 2030 and meet the UAE Consensus target of tripling renewables from 2022 levels, according to a report by the International Renewable Energy Agency, the COP31 Presidency, and the Global Renewables Alliance.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.oswalpumps.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Oswal Pumps</a> has won the entire capacity at a contract value of approximately ₹2.98 billion (~$31.15 million).</p>
<p>The project will be implemented under the capital expenditure (CAPEX) mode across 9,937 government schools.</p>
<p>The tender was <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/telangana-invites-bids-for-46-7-mw-rooftop-solar-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">floated</a> on June 15, 2026.</p>
<p>The scope of work includes designing, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning 2 kW, 5 kW, and 10 kW rooftop solar systems using TOPCon solar modules.</p>
<p>Oswal Pumps must provide comprehensive project maintenance for five years.</p>
<p>The project scope further includes deploying remote monitoring systems and facilitating net metering for all installations.</p>
<p>The project comprises setting up 4.05 MW of rooftop solar systems across 2,025 schools (2 kW per school), 36.465 MW across 7,293 schools (5 kW per school), and 6.19 MW across 619 schools (10 kW per school).</p>
<p>Oswal Pumps must establish and maintain service centers in Hyderabad, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam, Warangal, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Rangareddy.</p>
<p>The systems must be commissioned within 180 days from the date of award. Liquidated damages of 0.5% of the contract value will be levied for every week of delay, subject to a maximum of 5% of the contract value.</p>
<p>The project must use solar modules listed under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. The modules must have a performance warranty of at least 97% in the first year, more than 90% for the first 10 years, and over 80% for the subsequent 15 years.</p>
<p>Under its renewable energy policy, Telangana <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/telangana-aims-for-20-gw-renewable-energy-capacity-additions-by-2030" target="_blank" rel="noopener">set</a> a target of achieving 20,000 MW of renewable energy and storage capacity additions by 2030. The policy will be valid until 2035.</p>

<p>According to Mercom India Research’s Q2 and 1H 2026 India Rooftop Solar Market Report, India <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/india-added-6-6-gw-of-rooftop-solar-capacity-in-1h-2026" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a> 6.6 GW of rooftop solar capacity in the first half of 2026, up 131% year-over-year from 2.8 GW. <p>Bidders must have experience in commissioning grid-connected solar projects, rooftop systems, solar pump sets, and solar system installations in any one of the last five financial years, with a minimum capacity of 4 MW for Clusters 1, 3, 4, and 5, and 3 MW for Cluster 2.</p>
<p>They should have a minimum annual turnover of ₹120 million (~$1.25 million) for Clusters 1, 3, 4, and 5, and ₹90 million (~$940,464) for Cluster 2 in any one of the last five financial years.</p>
<p>The project must be completed within 90 days of the site handover.</p>
<p>The solar modules must be warranted for a minimum period of 25 years from the date of supply, with the output power not less than 90% at the end of 12 years and 80% at the end of 25 years.</p>
<p>Solar module to be used in the projects must be from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.</p>
<p>The mechanical structures, electrical components, including evacuation infrastructure, and overall workmanship of the solar power systems must be warranted for a minimum of five years from the date of commissioning.</p>
<p>For delayed installation at a given location beyond the stipulated time, a penalty at the rate of 0.5% per week of the work order value for that location in the applicable cluster will be levied, subject to a maximum of 5% of the corresponding work order value for that location.</p>
<p>Last year, TGREDCO <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/telangana-invites-bids-to-solarize-16840-irrigation-pumps-under-kusum" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> a tender to solarize 16,840 irrigation pumps, with a total capacity of 126.3 MW, under Component C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM), across 81 villages in the state.</p>

<p>Only components complying with domestic content requirements must be used.</p>

					</table><p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/karnataka-clarifies-transmission-charges-for-co-located-wind-solar-hybrid-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has clarified that if additional solar or wind capacity is added to an existing co-located wind-solar hybrid power</a> project, transmission charges will not exceed the capacity contracted with the transmission licensee, provided the total installed capacity is within the contracted limits. If the new solar or wind capacity exceeds the existing contracted transmission capacity, charges will be based on the higher of the two capacities, subject to evacuation approval for the additional capacity. For new hybrid projects, charges will similarly be levied on the higher of the installed solar or wind capacity, with evacuation approvals.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/telangana-issues-empanelment-tender-for-epc-of-1-gw-solar-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation has issued a tender to empanel engineering, procurement, and construction service providers</a> to set up grid connected solar projects of 1 MW in size with a total capacity of 1,000 MW. The last date to submit the bids is December 10, 2024. Bids will be opened on December 16.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/gujarat-pipavav-port-to-source-power-from-cleanmaxs-wind-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port) in Gujarat will procure power from a 4.56 MW wind-solar hybrid project developed by CleanMax. The two companies have</a> entered into a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement for the port to source power under the third-party open access model from the hybrid renewable energy project comprising a wind capacity of 3.5 MW and a solar capacity of 1.06 MW capacity in Gujarat. This hybrid renewable energy project will deliver approximately 540 million kWh of electricity annually to Gujarat Pipavav Port’s operations. Procuring renewable energy from the hybrid project is part of the Gujarat Pipavav Port’s effort to achieve net-zero status by 2040.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/cop29-300-billion-per-year-climate-finance-target-set-for-2035" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Developing countries slammed the COP29 agreement for the $300 billion a year climate finance by 2035 target, saying it falls way short of their $1.3 trillion demand. “Too little,</a> too late,” they said after the UN Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, upped the current spending by $200 billion annually. India spoke for the developing nations, calling the amount proposed to be mobilized “abysmally poor.” The country’s negotiator said at the end of the conference, “It is a paltry sum. It is not something that will enable conducive climate action necessary for our country’s survival.” Terming the agreement an “optical illusion,” India alleged that it was “stage-managed” by the developed nations, with no inclusivity in the adoption process.</p>

The calibration center at</a> the Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hamelin, Germany, has certified the efficiency record of Trina’s industrial larger-area 350.4 cm2 n-type bifacial i-TOPCon solar cells. Trina said it invented an innovative rectangular wafer design used in its high-efficiency solar cell. The substrate is an n-type phosphorus-doped Cz silicon wafer with a high minority carrier lifetime. By integrating with tunnel oxide passivating contact, advanced boron-doped emitter, advanced light trapping, and very fine line printing technologies, the front side reaches record-breaking efficiency for this industrial-size bifacial n-type i-TOPCon cell.</p>
