					</table><p>The Travancore Cochin Chemicals (<a href="https://www.tcckerala.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TCC</a>) has invited bids for a consultant to suggest various means of optimizing the power cost and conduct a viability study for green power project models.</p>
<p>The study&#8217;s broad objective is to suggest ways to optimize the power cost of TCC by setting up power projects producing green energy through various models with their cost-benefit analysis and sourcing of cheap conventional and non-conventional power through other suitable means like bilateral agreements of suitable duration with cost-benefit analysis.</p>
<p>The last date to submit the bids is May 29, 2023. Bids will be opened the following day.</p>
<p>Bidders will have to submit ₹25,000 (~$304) as an earnest money deposit. The successful bidder must furnish an amount equivalent to 5% of the contract&#8217;s total value within 14 days from the intimation of acceptance of the tender by the company.</p>
<p>The consultant has to develop the most efficient and viable models for sourcing cheap power, including setting up non-conventional power projects through various models of implementation and financing.</p>
<p>To be eligible, bidders should have conducted at least one similar study related to sourcing and optimizing power costs for any state electricity boards or companies and should have completed a feasibility study of non-conventional power projects of at least 10 MW capacity.</p>
<p>The bidder should be a government agency and empaneled with the state electricity boards, central or state government electricity companies, government agencies in the power sector, electricity regulatory commissions, or public sector undertakings in the power sector.</p>
<p>Also, bidders should have an annual turnover of ₹5 million (~$60,780) during the last two financial years.</p>
<p>Recently, the Kerala government&#8217;s Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/anert-invites-solar-projects-in-kerala" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids for 2 MW solar projects at multiple locations of the Travancore Titanium Products company campus at Kochuveli, Thiruvananthapuram.</p>
<p>Out of the cumulative capacity, 1.5 MW will be ground-mounted, and 500 kW of solar systems will be installed on the rooftop of various buildings within the campus.</p>
<p>Earlier, the Kerala State Electricity Board had <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/kerala-tender-100-mw-solar-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to empanel solar developers to set up 100 MW of grid-connected rooftop and ground-mounted projects.</p>

Kerala Invites Bids for a Consultant to Study Viability of Green Projects

<p>Japan International Cooperation Agency (<a href="https://www.jica.go.jp/english/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">JICA</a>) has signed a loan agreement for a maximum amount of JPY 10 billion (₹6.65 billion) with Tata Cleantech Capital (TCCL), an Indian non-banking financial company.</p>
<p>Based on Green Loan Principles, the loan agreement will help <a href="https://www.tatacapital.com/tccl.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TCCL</a> offer loans to businesses across India that focus on renewable energy generation, electric vehicles, and energy efficiency.</p>
<p>Green Loans are loans that are limited for use in environmentally conscious projects. The loan will be provided through the private sector investment finance scheme of JICA, co-financed with the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC).</p>
<p>TCCL, a joint venture between Tata Capital Limited (Tata Group) and IFC (World Bank Group), is a first-of-its-kind private sector green investment bank focusing on climate finance and advisory services. TCCL, which has been inducted into the Green Bank Network, is the premier Indian entity and the first private sector climate finance institution to be part of this network.</p>
<p>TCCL has contributed to the development of about 9.8 GW of renewable energy, which has averted annual carbon emissions of 15.1 MT.</p>
<p>JICA&#8217;s loan will support TCCL to mitigate climate change by offering green finance, which will decrease GHG emissions in India. It will also contribute to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), Goals 7 and 13. JICA will continue to support climate change initiatives globally and mobilize private finance for this sector.</p>
<p>India is the world&#8217;s third-largest emitter of greenhouse gas (GHG) at present and is projected to emit more GHG as the economy grows rapidly. India ratified the Paris Agreement in 2016, promising to decrease the emission of GHG per GDP by up to35% before 2030.</p>
<p>This year, in January, U.K.&#8217;s development finance institution and impact investor, <a href="https://www.cdcgroup.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CDC Group</a>,  <a href="https://mercomindia.com/cdc-30-million-green-lending-to-tata/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> a $30 million facility to <a href="https://www.tatacapital.com/tccl.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TCCL</a> through CDC&#8217;s directed green lending facility. The loan aims to address the financing barrier by directing lending to specific sub-sectors, incentivizing the rapid deployment of capital at scale.</p>
<p>Mercom had earlier reported that TCCL <a href="https://mercomindia.com/tata-cleantech-1800-million-green-bonds-fmo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> 25.62 million through green bonds from FMO, the Netherlands Development Finance Company.</p>
