Battery materials company Sila has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/battery-material-company-sila-raises-300-million-in-funding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> $300 million in a private equity funding round to expand U.S. production of its silicon-carbon anode material and support the planned second phase of its manufacturing facility in Moses Lake, Washington. Sila plans to use the capital to accelerate production of Titan Silicon, its silicon-carbon anode technology, and fund the planned Phase 2 expansion of its Moses Lake plant. The company completed construction of the facility and began operations in the fall of 2025. It is now ramping up production.
AMPYR Distributed Energy, a distributed energy solutions provider backed by AGP Group, has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/ampyr-distributed-energy-secures-194-million-for-european-expansion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> €170 million (~$194 million) in debt facilities from existing partners Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank and Benefit Street Partners, Franklin Templeton’s private credit manager. The company said it will use the expanded facilities to acquire and develop distributed renewable energy assets across key European markets.
Sofab Inks, a materials company focused on perovskite solar technology, has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/sofab-inks-raises-6-million-to-scale-perovskite-solar-cell-materials/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> $6 million in a seed funding round, led by strategic investor Cloudberry Ventures. Sofab Inks was spun out of the University of Louisville’s Conn Center for Renewable Energy Research and received support from the U.S. Department of Energy. The company develops novel, nanostructured materials for solar applications.
Brookfield Asset Management, a New York-headquartered global investment firm focused on infrastructure, renewable energy, private equity, real estate, and credit, has agreed to <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/brookfield-to-acquire-battery-storage-platform-aypa-power-for-7-billion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acquire</a> North American battery storage platform Aypa Power from funds managed by Blackstone Energy Transition Partners. The transaction, which is subject to customary regulatory approvals, values Aypa at approximately $7 billion on an enterprise value basis at closing and $3 billion on an equity value basis.
MN8 Energy, a power platform developing, owning, and operating energy assets, has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/mn8-acquire-greenbacker-deal-valued-up-to-375-million/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">entered</a> into a definitive agreement to acquire independent power producer Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company in a cash-and-equity transaction valued at up to approximately $375 million. MN8 will pay $350 million at closing, with up to $25 million in additional cash payments contingent on Greenbacker achieving specified commercial milestones.

					</table>Battery materials company <a href="https://www.silanano.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sila</a> has raised $300 million in a private equity funding round to expand U.S. production of its silicon-carbon anode material and support the planned second phase of its manufacturing facility in Moses Lake, Washington.
Atreides Management and Sutter Hill Ventures led the round. Other participants included 8VC, Bessemer Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, and other new and existing investors.
Sila plans to use the capital to accelerate production of Titan Silicon, its silicon-carbon anode technology, and fund the planned Phase 2 expansion of its Moses Lake plant. The company completed construction of the facility and began operations in the fall of 2025. It is now ramping up production.
The plant occupies a 160-acre site and has an initial Phase 1 production capacity of 2 GWh. Sila said it designed the facility to expand to up to 250 GWh of annual capacity over the next five years.
According to Sila, its silicon-carbon anode material provides higher energy density than conventional graphite anodes. The company said the technology can support smaller, lighter batteries and faster charging.
Sila said the expansion will increase domestic production of battery materials in the U.S., where manufacturers remain dependent on overseas suppliers.
“This funding allows us to further scale our operations and deliver on the promise of American innovation, strengthen the foundation of our domestic manufacturing capabilities and ensure that critical industries have a secure and reliable supply of advanced batteries,” said Gene Berdichevsky, Sila Co-Founder and CEO.

Brookfield, an investment firm, has <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/brookfield-acquires-majority-stake-in-independent-renewable-producer-neoen/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> a share purchase agreement to acquire approximately 53.12% of the shares of Neoen, an independent renewable energy power producer, at a price of €39.85 per share (~$42.71 per share). Brookfield signed the agreement with French investment company Impala, Fonds Strategique de Participations, managed by ISALT, Cartusia, Xavier Barbaro, and other shareholders.
e-Zinc, a developer of zinc-air-based long-duration energy storage solutions, <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/e-zinc-raises-additional-31-million-in-series-a2-funding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> an additional $31 million in Series A2 financing. This oversubscribed Series A2 round was led by Evok Innovations, with additional investments from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Export Development Canada, and Ultratech Capital Partners. This funding will be used to accelerate the development of e-Zinc’s manufacturing base, with plans to enable the commercialization of its long-duration energy storage solution.
Be.EV, an EV charging provider, <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/ev-charging-provider-be-ev-secures-70-million-debt-financing-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> £55 million (~$70 million) in debt financing from NatWest and the German KfW IPEX-Bank. The funding was also supported by existing investor Octopus Energy, a renewable energy group specializing in sustainable energy, which invested £110 million (~$128 million) last year. This deal will help the company expand and achieve its goal of operating over 1,000 rapid and ultra-rapid charge points across the UK by the end of 2024, making public EV chargers more accessible.

This funding will help accelerate the completion of the company’s Moses Lake plant in Q1 2025, enabling the delivery of its “Titan Silicon” anode material to customers by the end of 2025.
In 2021, Titan Silicon was introduced as a replacement for most graphite in a Li-ion cell. According to the company, it delivers up to a 20-25% energy density improvement over other graphite cells. Future releases of Titan Silicon are claimed to have improved up to 40%, recharge times to less than 10 minutes, and lower the $/kWh cost of batteries.
