					</table><p>U.S.-based <a href="https://www.segsolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SEG Solar</a> has announced plans to set up a 4.6 GW solar module manufacturing facility in the Greater Houston area of Texas, its third such production site in the country.</p>
<p>The new facility, spanning 1.15 million square feet, is expected to increase SEG Solar’s planned annual solar module manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW. This facility will also include a factory and a warehouse.</p>
<p>SEG said the new facility will support its transition to next-generation heterojunction (HJT) solar cell technology. The facility is also being designed to support the production of Foreign Entity of Concern-compliant modules through supply chain traceability, material control, and compliance management.</p>
<p>The company said the facility is expected to be completed by March 2027, with commercial operations beginning by May 2027. SEG Solar will <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/seg-solar-to-build-4-gw-solar-module-manufacturing-facility-in-houston" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commission</a> its second U.S. facility with a capacity of 4 GW on August 7, 2026. The facility will involve an investment of over $200 million.</p>
<p>Last December, SEG Solar <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/seg-solar-begins-construction-of-3-gw-ingot-and-wafer-facility-in-indonesia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commenced</a> the build-out of a 5 GW ingot-and-wafer manufacturing facility in Indonesia. The company said construction of that facility is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026. The facility will be expanded to enable the manufacture of 5 GW of ingots and wafers.</p>
<p>It is evaluating potential U.S. sites for a dedicated HJT cell manufacturing facility.</p>
<p>The company serves utility, commercial, and residential solar markets. It has shipped more than 7.5 GW of solar modules globally by the end of 2025, reaching 6.5 GW of module production capacity during the year. It also has a solar cell production capacity of 5 GW.</p>
<p>In 2023, SEG Solar <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/seg-solar-2-gw-module-manufacturing-facility-texas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the acquisition of a manufacturing facility in Texas capable of producing over 2 GW of solar modules.</p>
<p>Domestic module manufacturing capacity in the U.S. expanded by more than 50%, reaching 65.5 GW by the end of 2025, up from 42.5 GW at the end of 2024. Cell manufacturing capacity also continued to grow, while wafer capacity came online in the U.S. for the first time since 2016. However, actual output from domestic facilities remained well below total domestic demand.</p>

					</table><p><a href="https://www.segsolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SEG Solar</a>, a California-based solar module manufacturer, has announced plans to establish a 4 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. Commercial operations at the new facility are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026.</p>
<p>The facility will involve an investment of over $200 million.</p>
<p>SEG Solar said the expansion is part of its localization strategy. The company said domestically manufactured modules would support product quality, traceability, and delivery speed for customers and partners.</p>
<p>The new factory will add to SEG Solar’s existing 2 GW module manufacturing facility. The expansion is expected to increase the company’s total annual U.S. module production capacity to about 6 GW.</p>
<p>SEG Solar Vice President of Operations Timothy Johnson said, “The facility is designed with the flexibility to integrate next-generation technologies, including HJT, as the industry evolves.”</p>
<p>SEG Solar also <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/seg-solar-begins-construction-of-3-gw-ingot-and-wafer-facility-in-indonesia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">referred</a> to its previously announced plan to develop a 5 GW ingot-and-wafer manufacturing facility in Indonesia. The company said construction of that facility is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.</p>
<p>Once the Indonesia facility is completed, SEG Solar said it expects to supply modules through an integrated supply chain covering ingots, wafers, and cells.</p>
<p>The company said the facilities form the foundation of its vertically integrated production platform. This integration is intended to improve supply chain transparency and traceability while meeting origin and compliance requirements in the U.S. solar market.</p>
<p>SEG said it has been validated as a non-prohibited foreign entity (PFE) for foreign entity of concern compliance purposes by multiple independent third parties and currently provides modules with non-PFE solar cells.</p>
<p>The company has shipped more than 7.5 GW of solar modules globally to date. The company currently has 6.5 GW of photovoltaic module manufacturing capacity and 5 GW of solar cell production capacity.</p>

<p>The facility will be expanded to enable the manufacture of 5 GW of ingots and wafers.</p>
<p>The company will invest approximately $80 million in the project, which will be fully funded by the company and constructed on a site spanning around 50,000 square meters. Commercial production at the facility is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026.</p>
<p>The project is a key component of the company’s strategy to establish a fully integrated, non–Foreign Entity of Concern (non-FEOC) solar supply chain to support the U.S. solar market.</p>
<p>The facility will be developed within the SEG Indonesia PV Industrial Park.</p>
<p>EG Solar currently operates a solar module manufacturing facility in the U.S. and a solar cell manufacturing facility in Indonesia, which together form the foundation of its vertically integrated production platform.</p>
<p>With the addition of the 3 GW ingot and wafer facility, the company will establish an end-to-end manufacturing chain covering ingots, wafers, solar cells, and finished photovoltaic modules.</p>
<p>This vertical integration is intended to improve supply chain transparency and traceability while meeting stringent origin and compliance requirements increasingly imposed by the U.S. solar market.</p>
<p>Jun Zhuge, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of PT SEG Solar Manufaktur, said the company’s complementary production capabilities in the U.S. and Indonesia position SEG Solar to deliver a fully traceable and non-FEOC supply chain aligned with both current and upcoming regulatory requirements in the U.S. solar industry.</p>
<p>Globally, SEG Solar has achieved cumulative photovoltaic module shipments of more than 6 GW and currently operates more than 6 GW of module production capacity. The company also has 5 GW of installed solar cell manufacturing capacity across its global operations.</p>

<p>Solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facilities and equipment in the U.S. will <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/solar-ingot-and-wafer-investment-tax-credit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">qualify</a> for a 25% investment tax credit under the final regulations for the Advanced Manufacturing Investment Credit, part of the CHIPS Act 2022, announced by the Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service.</p>


SEG Solar Begins Construction of 3 GW Ingot and Wafer Facility in Indonesia

					</table><p>California-based solar module maker <a href="https://www.segsolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SEG Solar</a> announced the acquisition of a manufacturing facility in Texas with the capacity to produce over 2 GW of solar modules.</p>
<p>The company said the facility would have three state-of-the-art production lines allowing SEG to produce both TOPCON (tunnel oxide passivated contact) and high-efficiency n-type photovoltaic (PV) modules with 182 mm or 210 mm solar cells.</p>
<p>SEG plans to procure some components required in the module production from local suppliers. The production at the Texas module facility is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2024.</p>
<p>The new facility comprises approximately 145,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse area and 16,000 square feet of office space.</p>
<p>SEG&#8217;s Vice President Michael Eden said, &#8220;We are excited to establish a manufacturing base in Texas and look forward to serving the U.S. market with more domestic production. This facility will help to sustain low-carbon, eco-centric energy independence in the US for future generations.&#8221;</p>
<p>SEG&#8217;s aggregate total investment in the facility is expected to reach over $60 million, including equipment and facility improvements.</p>
<p>The module maker said it would begin moving its global headquarters and administrative support functions to the facility before the end of 2023. The plant is expected to create as many as 500 new jobs in Houston, Texas.</p>
<p>The new facility is also said to support domestic module manufacturing at a time when utility-scale solar installations <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/us-utility-scale-solar-installations-drop-31-in-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dropped</a> by 31% to 11.8 GW in 2022.</p>
<p>Solar equipment makers in the U.S. have been facing difficulties procuring components owing to the anti-circumvention probe and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Withhold Release Order for the detainment of solar equipment.</p>
<p>The U.S. installed 20.2 GW of solar photovoltaic capacity in 2022, down 16% from 2021, taking the total installed solar capacity to date to 142.3 GW.</p>
<p>The sanctions imposed by the U.S. administration on solar imports also led to a surge in Indian solar module exports in 2022 to the U.S. India’s solar module exports <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/indian-solar-module-exports-us-surge/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">increased</a> by 321% year-over-year last year, totaling $561.6 million. It was primarily driven by demand from the United States, which accounted for over 95% of the shipments.</p>
