					</table><p>Tata Power Renewable Energy (<a href="https://www.tatapowerrenewables.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TPREL</a>), a subsidiary of <a href="https://www.tatapower.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tata Power</a>, signed an agreement with Vivarea Condominium in Mumbai to set up a 3.125 MW group captive solar project to power the apartment complex with clean energy.</p>
<p>The solar project, to be set up at Himayatnagar in Maharashtra, is expected to supply green power to the condominium at ~40% less than the cost of the existing tariff.</p>
<p>With the first-of-its-kind supply agreement from a group captive project to a residential complex, TPREL aims to encourage more such societies to opt for open-access projects to meet their power demands through clean energy.</p>
<p>TPREL will be managing the construction, operation, and maintenance of the captive solar project and is likely to commission it by October 2023.</p>
<p>The project will generate approximately 7.5 MU of energy and help offset 6.15 metric tons of CO2 in its first year of operation.</p>
<p>TPREL will supply clean energy to the condominium for the life of the project.</p>
<p>Vivarea Condominium will become the country’s first residential society to procure group captive solar power for domestic usage, post the installation of the group captive solar project by Tata Power.</p>
<p>Mitesh Mehta, Honorary President of Vivarea Condominium, said, &#8220;Vivarea Condominium is extremely delighted to partner with Tata Power on a group captive solar open access that will produce green energy for our use. With the backing of all the residents, we have always been at the forefront when it comes to switching to clean energy. We believe that investment in green energy is an investment in the future of mankind.&#8221;</p>
<p>TPREL has a total portfolio of 10 GW of ground-mount utility-scale solar projects and over 1.3 GW of rooftop and distributed generation projects across India. The company has a renewable capacity of 6,048 MW with an installed capacity of 3,884 MW, which includes 2,956 MW of solar and 928 MW of wind. It also has 2,164 MW of renewables under various stages of implementation.</p>
<p>&#8220;We are happy to announce our ground-breaking partnership with the Vivarea Condominium, Mumbai to provide clean power for residential purposes through our captive solar plant. This association is a testament to TPREL’s continued efforts to mainstream the use of renewable energy,&#8221; said Shivram Bikkina, Chief of Rooftop, TPREL.</p>
<p>For the group captive project, Vivarea Condominium will be required to set up an availability-based tariff meter and abide by the regulations set up under the intra-state open access policy.</p>
<p>Tata Power’s commitment to enabling more and more citizens to adopt a sustainable lifestyle is in consonance with its ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ campaign, aimed at popularizing the cause of a green and sustainable future.</p>
<p>In September last year, TPREL <a href="https://mercomindia.com/tata-power-develop-100-mw-captive-solar-steel-plant/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that it would set up a 100 MW captive solar project in Nashik for stainless steel manufacturer Viraj Profile at Tarapur in Maharashtra.</p>
<p>India installed around 1.9 GW of open access solar capacity in the first nine months of the calendar year 2022, an increase of 96% year-over-year, according to the <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/india-solar-open-access-market-report-q3-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mercom India Solar Open Access Market Report Q3 2022</a>.</p>
