					</table><p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/green-energy-open-access-ists-charges-waived-june-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The waiver of interstate transmission system (ISTS) charges for projects commissioned by June 30, 2025, has enthused commercial and industrial consumers to procure power from ISTS-connected solar projects.</strong></a> In March this year, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission amended the CERC (Sharing of Inter-State Transmission Charges and Losses) Regulations, 2020, waiving ISTS charges for renewable energy and pumped hydroelectric projects beginning operations by June 30, 2025. The waiver of these charges lowers costs for developers translating to attractive tariffs for businesses procuring power from ISTS-connected open access solar projects.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/cmpdi-tender-6-25-mw-solar-projects-jharkhand" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Central Mine Planning &amp; Design Institute, a subsidiary of Coal India, has invited bids for the construction of 6.25 MW of grid-connected solar project along with its operation and maintenance for five years.</strong></a> The project will be commissioned for Central Coalfields at various locations in Kathara in Bokaro, Jharkhand. The last date for submission of the bids is August 31, 2023. Bids will be opened on the next day. The project’s estimated value is ₹450.87 million (~$5.45 million).</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/indian-oil-empanelment-tender-renewable-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Indian Oil Corporation has issued a tender to empanel turnkey contractors for engineering, procurement, and construction and operation and maintenance of large-scale solar</strong></a>, wind, and hybrid power projects. The empanelment will be for two years with a one-year extension provision. The last day to submit the bids is August 29, 2023. Bids will be opened on August 31.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/maharashtra-green-energy-open-access-consumers-100-kw" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has proposed amendments to the Distributed Open Access Regulations, 2016, in line with the Ministry of Power’s Green Energy Open Access Rules.</strong></a> According to the proposed amendments, consumers who possess a contract demand or sanctioned load of 100 kW or greater or an entity that combines multiple connections amounting to 100 kW or more within the same electricity division of a distribution company (DISCOM) will have the opportunity to obtain power from renewable sources via open access.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/torrent-profit-q1-fy2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Gujarat-based power company Torrent Power posted a profit after tax of ₹5.32 billion (~$64.3 million) for the first quarter (Q1) of financial year 2023-24, a year-over-year (YoY) increase of 6% due to an increase in contribution</strong></a> from merchant power sales in gas-based power projects, and contribution from licensed distribution businesses due to improved performance. The company’s revenue increased by 13% YoY to ₹73.28 billion (~$885.4 million). Torrent Power’s Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) for the April-June quarter grew by 9% YoY to ₹12.7 billion (~$153.4 million).</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/chennai-metro-invites-bids-rooftop-solar-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Chennai Metro Rail has issued a tender for 5.74 MW rooftop solar projects at CMRL’s Phase 1 and Phase 1 Extension areas in the city.</strong></a> The project will be implemented under the renewable energy service company model. The last date for the submission of bids is September 11, 2023. Bids will be opened the next day. The scope of the work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply to storage, civil construction, erection of appropriate structures, testing, and commissioning, as well as overseeing the operation and maintenance for 25 years.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/norfund-ifc-investment-fourth-partner" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Norwegian investment fund Norfund has announced an investment of ₹3.5 billion (~$42.26 million) in Fourth Partner Energy to support its renewables expansion in India.</strong></a> Separately, the International Finance Corporation announced an investment of ₹5.6 billion (~$67.62 million) to support the installation of the company’s rooftop solar projects and 75 MW solar park in Atharga, Karnataka. Fourth Partner will use the Norfund investment to support its off-site solar and wind projects for this fiscal year, under development in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/maxeon-3-gw-topcon-cell-panel-manufacturing-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Solar module manufacturer Maxeon Solar Technologies has announced a 3 GW TOPCon photovoltaic-silicon cell and shingled-cell performance line solar module manufacturing facility to be developed in Albuquerque, New Mexico.</strong></a> With an estimated investment exceeding $1 billion, the project’s realization is contingent upon a successful financial closure facilitated by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Title 17 Clean Energy Financing Program.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/maxeon-solar-continues-to-reports-improvement" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Solar module manufacturer Maxeon Solar Technologies recorded a net loss of $1.51 million during Q2 FY 2023, an improvement of 98.2% on a YoY compared to a net loss of $87.92 million.</strong></a> The company’s revenue was recorded at $348.37 million, an increase of 9.4% YoY. The higher revenue with balanced cost and operating expenses helped improve the company’s performance compared to the same period last year when both the cost of revenue and operating expenses were higher.</p>

The revenue from heavy-duty mobility, which amounted to $8.5 million, experienced a 39% decrease YoY. This decline was influenced by reduced earnings in the bus, truck, and rail sectors. However, this was offset by increased revenue in the marine sector.</p>

The research team calculates that their process could potentially recycle 5-50 million kilograms of silver from cumulative waste by 2050. 					</table><p>Solar module manufacturer <a href="https://maxeon.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maxeon Solar Technologies</a> has announced a 3 GW TOPCon photovoltaic-silicon cell and shingled-cell performance line solar module manufacturing facility to be developed in Albuquerque, New Mexico.</p>
<p>With an estimated investment exceeding $1 billion, the project&#8217;s realization is contingent upon a successful financial closure facilitated by the U.S. Department of Energy&#8217;s (DOE) Title 17 Clean Energy Financing Program.</p>
<p>The facility, which will manufacture the company’s latest iteration of TOPCon photovoltaic-silicon cell technology, aims to help meet the escalating demand for domestically produced solar cells and modules in the U.S.</p>
<p>The projected manufacturing capacity is roughly twice the size of the largest operational silicon solar manufacturing plant in the U.S.</p>
<p>Maxeon is slated to commence construction in the initial quarter of 2024, with the ramp-up of factory operations scheduled to initiate in 2025.</p>
<p>The facility is expected to cater to both the expansive utility-scale power project sector and the burgeoning market of distributed generation rooftop solar applications.</p>
<p>Maxeon is presently in the process of due diligence pertaining to its loan application.</p>

<p>Speaking on the development, Bill Mulligan, CEO of Maxeon, said, &#8220;Our new solar cell and panel facility in New Mexico is an ambitious and concrete response to the need to decarbonize the U.S. economy while creating permanent highly-skilled local manufacturing and engineering jobs. Maxeon is well-positioned to play a significant role in this process by virtue of our experience in deploying and operating world-class solar cell and panel technology.&#8221;</p>
<p>Maxeon has identified a 160-acre parcel of land in the Mesa Del Sol community as the optimal location for the facility.</p>
<p>This addition to Maxeon&#8217;s global manufacturing network, which already encompasses facilities in Mexico, Malaysia, and the Philippines, is expected to underscore the company&#8217;s strategic expansion into New Mexico.</p>
<p>The company <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/higher-q4-revenue-46-yoy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> $324 million in revenue for the fourth quarter of the financial year 2022, a year-over-year (YoY) increase of 46%. The company shipped 734 MW of solar modules during the quarter, up 27% YoY from 577 MW.</p>
<p>Earlier, Maxeon had <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/daily-news-wrap-up-suzuki-motor-invest-1-25-billion-ev-gujarat" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that it would supply approximately 400 MW of its high-efficiency shingled bifacial performance line solar modules to Origis Energy, a solar and storage developer. The modules will be used in Origis&#8217; U.S. utility-scale projects.</p>

					</table><p>Singapore-headquartered solar module maker <a href="https://corp.maxeon.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maxeon Solar Technologies</a> posted $324 million in revenue for the fourth quarter (Q4)of the financial year (FY) 2022, a year-over-year (YoY) increase of 46%.</p>
<p>The company said revenue growth was due to increased module shipments to the United States, Canada, Latin American countries, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.</p>
<p>The company shipped 734 MW of solar modules during the quarter, up 27% YoY from 577 MW.</p>
<p>Maxeon&#8217;s revenue from distributed generation (DG) business across the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa totaled $244 million, up by 7% YoY while the company&#8217;s revenue from large-scale projects increased by 114% YoY to $79 million.</p>
<p>The company&#8217;s net loss rose to $76 million from $73.3 million in the same quarter last year due to the expansion of Maxeon&#8217;s DG business in Europe and the U.S.</p>
<p>The cost of revenue fell by 100% YoY to $30,000, owing to the difference in contractual costs for polysilicon and the market price.</p>
<p>Maxeon&#8217;s CEO Bill Mulligan said, &#8220;Our U.S. DG partners indicate significant year-over-year growth for us in 2023, which we attribute in part to our products&#8217; popularity in high-cost-of-power markets and sales professionals skilled at selling long-term value. Our DG business pricing is benefiting from continued strength in our European channel with increasing attach rates for Beyond the Panel products, and also in the U.S. with strong demand from both SunPower as well as through our new Maxeon installer channel which kicked off in January.&#8221;</p>
<p>He said the company&#8217;s first 1.8 GW of Performance Line manufacturing capacity would reach full output later this year.</p>

<p>Maxeon booked its first orders for storage products in Australia during Q4, while the company booked its first orders of Maxeon-branded residential panels from the new U.S. channel. The company&#8217;s cumulative U.S. bookings for utility-scale solar increased to 4.2 GW by the end of Q4.</p>
<p>Maxeon&#8217;s adjusted Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) loss narrowed to $3.7 million compared to the EBITDA loss of $33 million in Q4 2021.</p>
<p><strong>Full Year 2022</strong></p>
<p>Maxeon&#8217;s revenue for FY 2022 totaled $1 billion, up by 35% compared to $783 million in the previous year due to increased shipments.</p>
<p>In 2022, the company shipped 2.3 GW of solar modules against 1.9 GW shipped in 2021.</p>
<p>The company&#8217;s net loss increased to $267 million in 2022 from $255 million in 2021.</p>
<p>Maxeon&#8217;s net loss <a href="https://mercomindia.com/maxeons-q3-net-loss-shrinks-on-higher-shipments-for-rooftop-solar-market/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">narrowed</a> to $44.7 million in the third quarter of 2022, compared to $65.4 million in Q3 2021, due to an increase in DG business, which accounted for 83% of the total revenue.</p>
<p>The company <a href="https://mercomindia.com/increased-solar-module-shipments-maxeons-revenue/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> revenue of $223 million in the first quarter, a YoY growth of 35%.</p>

					</table><p>Solar module manufacturer <a href="https://maxeon.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maxeon Solar Technologies</a>&#8216; net loss narrowed to $44.7 million in the third quarter (Q3) of 2022, compared to $65.4 million year-over-year (YoY).</p>
<p>The company said that the lower quarterly loss was primarily due to a record increase in distributed generation (DG) business, which accounted for 83% of the total revenue.</p>

<p>The revenue from DG business in Q3 grew by 24.6% YoY to $228 million.</p>
<p>The total solar equipment shipments for the quarter were 605 MW, a YoY increase of 7%. On a quarter-over-quarter basis, the shipments rose by 16%.</p>
<p>Maxeon&#8217;s Interim CEO Mark Babcock said, &#8220;In Europe, distributed generation posted another record quarter for volume, revenue, and beyond the panel product contributions. These factors drove improved financial results for the company overall, and the business trajectory is expected to facilitate overall break-even gross margins in the fourth quarter.&#8221;</p>
<p>The company posted revenue of $275.45 million in Q3 2022, a 25% surge YoY.</p>
<p>Maxeon&#8217;s adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) amounted to a loss of $34.5 million, compared with $36.9 million YoY.</p>
<p>Maxeon said it expects to ship its first storage units next quarter. In utility-scale business, the company is approaching key site selection and DOE Loan Guarantee Program Office milestones for its proposed 3 GW cell and module facility in the U.S.</p>
<p>The North American utility-scale business continues to expand shipment volume with multiple daily deliveries from Mexico to Maxeon&#8217;s customers in the U.S. The company&#8217;s Malaysian PERC cell fab has ramped to over 1 GW capacity.</p>
<p>The company recently <a href="https://mercomindia.com/daily-news-wrap-up-saatvik-bifacial-solar-modules/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unveiled</a> the SunPower One integrated home energy solution based on a flexible ecosystem of solar modules, battery storage, and actionable household energy insights. Designed to be intuitive and engaging, the technology would proactively advise homeowners on optimizing their energy usage.</p>
<p>Maxeon had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/daily-news-wrap-up-suzuki-motor-invest-1-25-billion-ev-gujarat/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that it would supply approximately 400 MW of its high-efficiency shingled bifacial performance line solar modules to Origis Energy. The modules will be used in Origis&#8217; U.S. utility-scale projects. Module deliveries will commence in June of 2023 and conclude at the end of 2023.</p>

Maxeon’s Q3 Net Loss Shrinks to $44.7 Million on Higher Shipments for Rooftop Solar Market

<p>Solar module manufacturer <a href="https://maxeon.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maxeon Solar Technologies</a> posted revenue of $223 million in the first quarter (Q1) of 2022, a year-over-year (YoY) surge of 35% from $165 million in the previous year.</p>
<p>The company said that the spike in revenue was due to a record increase in shipments and distributed generation revenue in Europe that went up by 75% year-over-year.</p>
<p>The company&#8217;s AC panel mix in Q1 2022 was over 40% in the Netherlands and France, which was also a significant contribution to the higher revenue.</p>
<p>The CEO of Maxeon, Jeff Waters, siad, &#8220;We kicked off 2022 with another record DG performance in Europe and our SunPower One ecosystem unveiling, which we will launch in various regions across the globe this year. In the U.S. utility-scale, we&#8217;re now negotiating terms for 2024 deliveries. We&#8217;re thrilled to see the first module containers leave our facilities in Mexico and arrive successfully at our customer&#8217;s project site.&#8221;</p>
<p>Maxeon&#8217;s total solar equipment shipments for Q1 were 488 MW, a YoY increase of 29% from 379 MW in the previous year&#8217;s first quarter.</p>
<p>Maxeon&#8217;s adjusted Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) amounted to $34 million, a YoY leap of 42% from $24 million.</p>
<p>The solar module manufacturer had operating expenses of $37.4 million against $37.2 million in the same period last year.</p>
<p>The company posted a net loss of $59 million in Q1, a YoY increase of 51.2% in losses from ~$39 million in the previous year.</p>
<p>Maxeon produced the first modules for utility-scale projects in Mexico. The company has a dedicated capacity of 1.8 GW modules under production on schedule for a complete ramp by early 2023.</p>
<p>The first line of Maxeon 6 was operationalized, which is scheduled to be completely ramped to 500 MW in the second quarter of the current fiscal year. The manufacturer is working to ready performance line capacity for the U.S. market, which will be completed by the first half of 2023.</p>
<p>Maxeon <a href="https://mercomindia.com/daily-news-wrap-up-saatvik-bifacial-solar-modules/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unveiled</a> its Sunpower One Integrated home energy solution in Europe earlier this month.</p>

Increased Solar Module Shipments Take Maxeon’s Revenue up 35% YoY in Q1 2022

<p>Here are some noteworthy cleantech announcements of the day from around the world:</p>
<p><strong>Saatvik, an Indian module manufacturer, </strong><a href="https://saatvikgroup.com/introducing-bifacial-half-cut-mbb-solar-modules-with-545-w-peak-output-and-21-efficiency/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>launched</strong></a><strong> the Bifacial Half Cut MBB Solar Modules with 545W output and 21.12% efficiency.</strong> The company would be one of the first manufacturers to start with the production of 545W bifacial modules using M10-sized cells with BIS &amp; IEC certificates. The backside of bifacial modules could provide up to 25% additional power gain. They can also provide significant gains on grasslands and dry sand, especially in snowfields. The modules are based on the advanced mono wafer and PERC Half-cut technology, which would help bring solar plants to a 545W+ solar era with a linear warranty of up to 30 years.</p>
<p><strong>Jindal Worldwide </strong><a href="https://www.bseindia.com/xml-data/corpfiling/AttachLive/e2f5ac29-0e50-4fd9-8ecf-f3802259cca6.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the acquisition of Mumbai-based electric vehicle (EV) startup Earth Energy EV through its subsidiary Jindal Mobilitric.</strong> In addition to the acquisition, Jindal Mobilitric would set up a new manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad, supplementing the existing Earth Energy manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. The acquisition will see Jindal Mobilitric take over the indigenously developed technology platform as well as Earth Energy&#8217;s brands — Glyde SX and the Glyde SX+ variants of its commuter scooter as well as the — Evolve R and the Evolve S commuter and cruiser motorcycles. The EV startup has already appointed distributors across ten states which Jindal Mobilitric will retain. The company will also add new touchpoints by strengthening the distributor network in each market.</p>
<p><strong>Hong Leong Bank </strong><a href="https://www.hlb.com.my/en/personal-banking/news-updates/hlb-concludes-maiden-issuance-of-green-capital-securities-of-rm900-million-in-nominal-value.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the issuance of its first Green Additional Tier 1 (AT1) Capital Securities amounting to RM900 million (~$206 million) in nominal value</strong>, issued under HLB’s existing multi-currency securities program of up to RM10 billion (~$2.29 billion). The issuance of the Green Capital Securities also achieves the milestone of being the first issuance of a green AT1 bond by a bank in Malaysia. HLB  seeks to raise funds to finance or refinance new or existing green assets, projects, or companies that meet the eligibility criteria outlined in HLB’s Green Bond Framework.</p>

Daily News Wrap-Up: Saatvik Launches Bifacial Half Cut MBB Solar Modules

<p>Here are some noteworthy cleantech announcements of the day from around the world:</p>
<p><strong>ATCO Group, through its investment in Canadian Utilities Limited, </strong><a href="https://www.atco.com/en-ca/about-us/news/2022/122951-atco-group-and-microsoft-announce-long-term-renewable-energy-pow.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>entered</strong></a><strong> into a 15-year power purchase agreement with Microsoft Corporation.</strong> Under the agreement, Microsoft will purchase all renewable energy generated by ATCO&#8217;s Deerfoot solar facility in Calgary, Alberta. The 37 MW solar project at the facility is adjacent to ATCO&#8217;s 27 MW Barlow project. Construction for both projects is set to begin this spring, with energization in the fourth quarter of 2022. Combined, the facilities will generate enough renewable electricity to offset 68,000 tonnes of carbon a year.</p>
<p><strong>Nestlé Pure Life </strong><a href="https://www.yellowdoorenergy.com/news/nestle-pure-life-yellow-door-energy-switch-on-solar-carport/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>commissioned</strong></a><strong> a solar power plant to generate 2.4 GWh of electricity, on a carport, at its production facility in Dubai with Yellow Door Energy.</strong> The solar carport would help reduce carbon emissions by one million kilograms per year. Yellow Door Energy will provide the solar lease, enabling Nestlé Pure Life to switch to renewable energy and reduce its electricity costs. The carport structure is six meters high and provides shading for 72 Nestlé Waters distribution trucks. Over 2,500 solar panels have been installed to meet 80% of the factory’s energy consumption, and robots will be used to regularly clean the panels’ surfaces to maximize energy generation efficiency and optimize visual aesthetics.</p>
<p><strong>Hitachi Energy India </strong><a href="https://www.hitachienergy.com/in/en/news/press-releases/2022/04/hitachi-energy-wins-inr-160-cr-order-from-mp-power-transmission-package-ii-limited-to-modernize-the-madhya-pradesh-power-grid" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> that it won an order worth about ₹1.6 billion (~$21 million) from Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Package-II Limited</strong>, a project-specific business to strengthen the transmission system in the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh. The company will work to increase capacity and improve the reliability of the power infrastructure. The order was booked for nine grid connections in the last quarter, strengthening a power transmission network spanning more than 1,000 kilometers of overhead lines across nine rural districts of Madhya Pradesh.</p>
<p><strong>The Australian government </strong><a href="https://www.bp.com/en_au/australia/home/media/press-releases/bp-welcomes-federal-funding-for-green-hydrogen-hub-at-kwinana-western-australia.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> an investment of AUD 70 million (~$52 million) funding for a green hydrogen hub at bp’s Kwinana site in Western Australia.</strong> The hydrogen hub is being developed in partnership with Macquarie Group. It will include the installation of an electrolyzer of at least 75 MW, hydrogen storage, compression and truck loading facilities, and upgrades to bp’s existing on-site hydrogen pipeline. The hydrogen produced will support domestic and export demand, including hydrogen supply for bp’s renewable fuels production, ammonia, metals and minerals processing, on-site gas blending, and hydrogen for heavy-duty transport.</p>
<p><strong>Plug Power, a provider of turnkey hydrogen solutions, </strong><a href="https://www.ir.plugpower.com/press-releases/news-details/2022/Plug-Supplies-Walmart-with-Green-Hydrogen-to-Fuel-Retailers-Fleet-of-Material-Handling-Lift-Trucks/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> an agreement with Walmart Inc. for an option to deliver up to 20 tons per day of liquid green hydrogen to power material handling lift trucks </strong>across Walmart distribution and fulfillment centers in the U.S. The liquid green hydrogen produced will fuel up to 9,500 lift trucks and support the retailer’s goal of a zero-emissions future by 2040. Plug Power intends to deliver green hydrogen to Walmart facilities using a fleet of liquid transport it has put into service using capabilities gained from its recent acquisition of Applied Cryo Technologies.</p>

Daily News Wrap-Up: Microsoft to Purchase Power from ATCO Group’s 37 MW Solar Project

<p><strong>Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, R.K.Singh, </strong><a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1798856" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>said</strong></a><strong> the government intends to ensure uninterrupted 24/7 power supply to all households.</strong> While addressing the ‘New Frontiers: A program on Renewable Energy,’ the minister said India increased its installed power capacity to 395,000 MW, whereas the peak demand is 200,000 MW. He stressed that a better distribution system and the viability of distribution companies (DISCOMs) are critical for an uninterrupted power supply. The minister also said solar pumps in the agriculture sector would replace diesel pumps by 2024.</p>
<p><strong>SJVN Limited has </strong><a href="https://sjvn.nic.in/latest-updates-detail/1831/120" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>entered</strong></a><strong> into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL).</strong> REIL will provide consultancy services to SJVN for developing solar energy projects at different locations across India. SJVN has a portfolio of 16,422 MW capacity and has won 1,670 MW of solar power capacity through a competitive bidding process. The company has set targets to add 5,000 MW of renewable capacity by 2023, 25,000 MW by 2030, and 50,000 MW by 2040.</p>
<p><strong>The Asian Development Bank has </strong><a href="https://www.adb.org/news/150-million-adb-loan-support-green-recovery-catalyze-financing-toward-sdgs-indonesia" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>approved</strong></a><strong> a $150 million loan to support Indonesia’s economic recovery from the Covid-19, catalyzing public and private funds </strong>to support green and bankable infrastructure projects to help the country achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Sustainable Development Goals Indonesia One aims to finance at least ten projects with at least 70% of the financing supporting green infrastructure and the rest supporting the SDGs.</p>
<p><strong>Matt Kean, Treasurer and Energy Minister of New South Wales, Australia, </strong><a href="https://www.nsw.gov.au/media-releases/100-billion-of-investment-potential-for-hunter-central-coast-renewable-energy-zone" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>said</strong></a><strong> commercial interest in renewable generation and storage projects representing around 40 GW and over $100 </strong>billion of the potential investment had been received in the registration of interest for the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone. The Minister said commercial interest had been registered for 24 solar projects, 13 onshore wind projects, seven offshore wind projects, 35 large-scale batteries, and eight pumped-hydro projects. The projects could deliver over 100,000 GWh of renewable energy annually.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.offgridenergylabs.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Offgrid Energy Labs</strong></a><strong> unveils its first innovation – rechargeable zinc-based battery. </strong>The company is backed by investors, including Shell Ventures, Ankur Capital, and APVC Singapore. The company said the new battery technology – with over 15 patents, design, and trademarks for its innovation – aimed to outperform conventional energy storage batteries in power density, battery life, and cost-efficiency.</p>
