					</table><p>The Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/gujarat-invites-eoi-for-study-on-material-recovery-from-solar-e-waste" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> expressions of interest (EoI) for a research study to recover valuable materials from solar and electronic waste (E-waste). The project aims to assess the feasibility of material recovery methods and develop an implementation roadmap to aid Gujarat’s renewable energy and waste management sectors. The scope of work entails the preparation of a detailed feasibility report based on high-level research into thin film technology and silicon recovery from poly/mono-crystalline and tunnel oxide passivated contact cell waste.</p>
<p>Indus Towers <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/indus-towers-floats-eoi-for-100-mw-renewable-energy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> global EoI to supply renewable energy of a capacity ranging from 30 MW to 100 MW for its telecom sites in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh under the green energy open access regulations. Bids must be submitted by May 19, 2025. Bidders who have developed at least a 100 MW renewable energy capacity under open access in any state will be given preference.</p>
<p>The U.S. and China <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/us-china-agree-to-slash-reciprocal-trade-tariffs-by-115-for-90-days" target="_blank" rel="noopener">agreed</a> to slash reciprocal trade tariffs by 115% for 90 days. The new tariffs will come into effect from May 14, 2025, the two countries said in a joint statement. The U.S. Department of the Treasury temporarily suspended all tariffs imposed since April 2, 2025, except for retaining a 10% tariff on all Chinese imports. The effective tariff on imports from China has decreased from 145% to 10%. Simultaneously, China also removed all reciprocal tariffs, bringing them down from 125% to 10%.</p>
<p>Global solar installations <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/global-solar-installations-hit-a-record-597-mw-in-2024-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hit</a> a record high of 597 GW in 2024, a 33% increase year-over-year (YoY) from 2023, according to a new report from SolarPower Europe. After global installations crossed the 2 TW solar capacity milestone in late 2024, the report predicts that global installations can reach 1 TW of solar capacity per year by the decade’s end. In 2024, China alone added 329 GW of solar capacity, comprising 55% of global installations. Worldwide installations are expected to decline slightly in 2026 following changes in China’s market design in 2025.</p>
<p>Residential rooftop solar prices in the U.S. <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/residential-rooftop-solar-prices-in-the-us-dropped-to-2-50-w-in-2h-2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fell</a> for the third consecutive half-year to $2.5/W in the second half (2H) of 2024 due to softening demand, high interest rates, and stable electricity prices, according to EnergySage’s Solar and Storage Marketplace Report. The average maximum rooftop solar prices reached as low as $2.89/W, and the average minimum dropped to the lowest in the decade to $2.41/W. Prices for rooftop solar with storage fell to $2.40/W in 2H 2024 from $2.59/W in 1H 2024. The prices dropped due to a surge in demand for Tesla’s Powerwall 3, which includes an integrated inverter.</p>
<p>U.S.-based energy storage solutions provider Eos Energy Enterprises <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/rise-in-product-shipment-volume-drives-eos-energys-revenue-up-58-yoy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> a 58% YoY increase in revenue from $6.6 million to $10.5 million in the first quarter of 2025, missing analysts’ expectations by $1.31 million. The company also recorded the highest quarterly revenue as it ramped production to deliver customer backlogs. Eos’ net profit for the quarter came in $95.14 million from a net loss of $46.71 million a year ago.</p>

					</table><p><a href="https://www.industowers.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Indus Towers</a> has invited global expressions of interest (EoI) to supply renewable energy of a capacity ranging from 30 MW to 100 MW for its telecom sites in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh under the green energy open access regulations.</p>
<p>Bids must be submitted by May 19, 2025.</p>
<p>Bidders must have at least three years of experience in renewable energy generation.</p>
<p>Bids must include the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>A letter of interest indicating the bidder profile and state-wise deployed projects</li>
<li>Details of ongoing/pipelined projects, including capacity, type, location, and expected commissioning date.</li>
<li>Bidders’ financial performance documents, including audited balance sheets, profit and loss statements, auditor’s reports, and notes to accounts for the previous two years. The latest financial statement must not be older than 12 months from the EoI submission date.</li>
</ul>
<p>Bidders must have an experienced regulatory team in the states designated for the renewable energy projects. Those who have developed at least a 100 MW renewable energy capacity under open access in any state will be given preference.</p>
<p>Bidders must have a minimum annual turnover of at least ₹400 million (~$4.71 million) in the last two financial years and a positive net worth during the same period. They must have a minimum liquidity ratio of one in these financial years.</p>
<p>Bidders must have previously sold renewable energy through open access.</p>
<p>Indus Towers provides passive telecom infrastructure and deploys, owns, and manages telecom towers and communications for multiple mobile operators. The company’s portfolio includes over 249,305 telecom towers, and it operates in all 22 telecom circles. It works with all wireless telecommunication service providers in India.</p>
<p>In February this year, Indus Towers <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/indus-towers-to-source-50-mw-of-renewable-energy-from-amplus" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> it would source 50 MW of renewable energy from Amplus Tungabhadra, a special purpose vehicle of Amplus Solar, in captive mode.</p>
<p>In December 2024, Indus Towers <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/indus-towers-to-procure-solar-power-from-jsw-energys-130-mw-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> it would procure 130 MW of solar energy from JSW Green Energy Eight, a special purpose vehicle of JSW Energy.</p>


Indus Towers Floats EoI for 100 MW Renewable Energy

					</table><p>Gurugram-based mobile tower installation company <a href="https://www.industowers.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Indus Towers</a> will source 50 MW of renewable energy from Amplus Tungabhadra, a special purpose vehicle of <a href="https://amplussolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amplus Solar</a>, in captive mode.</p>
<p>The company will invest ₹270 million (~$3.1 million) to acquire a 26% stake in Amplus Tungabhadra on a fully diluted basis.</p>
<p>Amplus Tungabhadra will set up a 50 MW solar captive power project for Indus Towers. The project is expected to be completed by February 2026.</p>
<p>Indus Towers, which operates 229,659 towers and 379,236 co-locations, had 15,535 sites equipped with solar systems as of last year. It powered 276 sites with solar and wind microgrids.</p>
<p>In its annual report 2023-24, the company has also signed a power purchase agreement and a shareholder’s agreement for 8.3 MW with Amplus in Karnataka.</p>
<p>It has targeted expanding its renewable energy portfolio under green energy open access for a capacity of up to 3.5 GW.</p>
<p>The company aims to turn net zero by 2050 and plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio to GW scale. Currently, the company’s installed solar capacity is 76 MW. It is aiming to have 25,000 solar sites by 2025.</p>
<p>Eleven of Indus Towers’ warehouses are run entirely by solar energy.</p>
<p>The company said renewable energy integration and the use of energy storage solutions has led to a significant decrease in diesel usage.</p>
<p>Last year, the company <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/indus-towers-to-procure-solar-power-from-jsw-energys-130-mw-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> it would procure 130 MW of solar energy from JSW Green Energy Eight, a special purpose vehicle of <a href="https://www.jsw.in/energy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">JSW Energy</a>. The two companies have signed a power purchase agreement to procure power in captive mode. Indus also proposed to invest approximately ₹380.3 million (~$4.4 million) to acquire 26% equity shares in the special purpose vehicle.</p>
<p>In March 2024, Indus Towers signed a memorandum of understanding with <a href="https://www.ngel.in/ngel-home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NTPC Green Energy</a> to develop grid-connected renewable energy-based power projects, including solar, wind, energy, and storage.</p>

<p>Indus has also proposed to invest approximately ₹380.3 million (~$4.4 million) to acquire 26% equity shares in the SPV. The acquisition aligns with the company’s sustainability and net zero goals by 2050.</p>
<p>Indus Towers provides coverage in all 22 telecom circles in India with 229,659 towers and 379, 236 co-locations as of September 2024.</p>
<p>In March, Indus Towers signed a memorandum of understanding with <a href="https://www.ngel.in/ngel-home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NTPC Green Energy</a> to develop grid-connected renewable energy-based power projects, including solar, wind, energy, and storage.</p>
<p>The company aims to expand its renewable energy portfolio in a phased manner to GW-scale capacity to power its operations spread across the country as a part of its net zero commitments.</p>
<p>Indus is also exploring wind-solar hybrid solutions to support its non-grid sites.</p>
<p>Indus Towers has 1,496 sites equipped with solar systems as on March 31, 2023. It sourced 10,279 GJ of energy from renewable sources.</p>
<p>The company has 213 sites powered by solar/wind microgrids, enabling them to decentralize power generation to localized renewable energy generation, ensuring a reliable and sustainable power supply for remote or off-grid locations.</p>
<p>It is also exploring group net-metering in Delhi to harness solar energy to adopt renewable power on a larger scale.</p>
<p>In 2023, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s Corporate Energy Market outlook report, corporations <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/corporate-buying-clean-energy-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> a record 46 GW of solar and wind contracts in 2023, with a 12% year-over-year increase from 41 GW in 2022.</p>
