					</table>Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy <a href="https://www.saudigulfprojects.com/2025/04/kuwait-receives-bids-for-400kv-ohtl-shagaya-solar-power-plant/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">received</a> proposals for the 400 kV overhead transmission line project connecting the Al Shaqaya Solar Power Station to the Al Wafra (Z) substation. Larsen &amp; Toubro submitted the lowest bid at KWD1.45 million (~$135.19 million). This project is part of Phase I of the Shagaya Renewable Energy Project, developed by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, which includes a 50 MW concentrated solar power facility, a 10 MW wind farm, and a 10 MW solar facility.
The Electricity and Water Authority of Bahrain <a href="https://www.saudigulfprojects.com/2025/04/bahrain-receives-commercial-bids-for-44-mw-solar-pv-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">received</a> commercial bids for a 44 MW solar project to be developed at the University of Bahrain. Nine bidders submitted proposals for the initiative in January 2025. The solar project is expected to produce approximately 75 GW of clean energy annually. It will be executed on a turnkey basis, encompassing engineering, design, material supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and civil and electromechanical works.
Shanghai Electric <a href="https://www.stocktitan.net/news/SIELY/shanghai-electric-forms-major-partnerships-with-masdar-and-mawarid-ds5x1xcgr7ks.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">entered</a> two renewable energy agreements in the Middle East. The company signed a 2 GW solar project with Masdar in Saudi Arabia and a comprehensive wind energy partnership with the Mawarid Group in Oman. The Saudi Arabia-based Sadawi solar project, covering 40 sq m, will supply over 6 billion kWh annually. Shanghai Electric’s partnership with the Mawarid Group includes wind turbine supply, technology transfer, and localized factory design.
The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre <a href="https://solar-me.totalenergies.com/en/news/totalenergies-and-ocec-officially-commission-landmark-solar-rooftop-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">launched</a> a large-scale rooftop solar project in Muscat in partnership with TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation Middle East and Africa. The country’s OMRAN Group also supports the project. Commissioned in early 2025, the project includes 8,300 solar modules covering 16,600 sq m and is expected to meet around 25% of OCEC’s energy needs.
China’s LONGi has <a href="https://news.goalfore.com/detail/81885/longi-eyes-solar-panel-manufacturing-project-in-algeria.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expressed</a> interest in launching a large-scale solar manufacturing plant in Algeria. The company has presented a roadmap for its proposed project, including the full-scale production of solar panels. The Chinese delegation also outlined the project’s technical and logistical requirements, its implementation phases, and its potential value for the Algerian economy and the energy sector.

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (<a href="https://eeslindia.org/en/home/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EESL</a>), as part of its Smart Meter National Program, installed over three million smart meters in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, and Andaman. The company has signed agreements with the state-designated agencies and utilities in these regions for the large-scale deployment of smart meters. EESL aims to install over 4.7 million smart meters by December 2023. EESL recently installed over 1.05 million prepared smart meters in Bihar. The company has also installed around 1.16 million smart meters in Uttar Pradesh. Over 124,000 smart meters were installed in Rajasthan, 530,000 in Haryana, 64,000 in Delhi, and 74,000 in Andaman.
Bahrain plans to <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/bahrains-electricity-and-water-authority-tenders-landfill-remediation-project-in-preparation-for-a-100-mw-solar-farm-301636762.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">build</a> a solar park with at least 100-MW capacity at Askar in the country&#8217;s Southern Governorate. Bahrain&#8217;s Electricity and Water Authority launched its tendering process to appoint a qualified contractor to remediate a two-square-kilometer landfill site to prepare the plot for developing and implementing a solar project with a minimum capacity of 100 MW. The tender scope also includes the site investigations to meet the required performance specification and environmental monitoring of the landfill site at agreed intervals until 12 months following the completion of the site remediation. Bahrain plans to target investments worth $30 billion in strategic projects, including renewable energy.
Faurecia&#8217;s hydrogen technology project was <a href="https://www.faurecia.com/en/newsroom/european-union-trusts-faurecia-develop-affordable-clean-mobility-solutions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">granted</a> €213 million (~$208.14 million) of public support from the European Commission as part of the Hydrogen Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI program). The zero-emissions mobility activities of Faurecia were selected as being of common European interest. Faurecia is among the ten projects supported by the French government in IPCEI. A fund of €2.1 billion (~$2.05 billion) will support those ten projects to accelerate the hydrogen industry in France. The fund will enable the development of a new generation of gaseous and liquid hydrogen tanks. Faurecia&#8217;s plant in Allenjoie will produce over 100,000 tanks annually; production will start in 2024.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) <a href="https://www.energy.gov/articles/doe-announces-24-million-advance-solar-thermal-and-industrial-decarbonization-technologies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> a new roadmap and awarded $24 million to ten research teams to advance next-generation concentrating solar-thermal power (CSP) technologies. Five of these ten projects will focus on advancing industrial uses for this technology, specifically in the cement, hydrogen, and chemicals sectors, and help advance the goals laid out in DOE&#8217;s Industrial Decarbonization Roadmap and recently launched Industrial Heat Shot. The other five projects will support DOE&#8217;s $100 million ongoing efforts to develop next-generation CSP plants, which can generate low-cost electricity anytime. Today&#8217;s announcements will further advance the development and deployment of solar energy technologies and help support President Biden&#8217;s goal of achieving a net-zero economy by 2050.
Umicore <a href="https://www.umicore.com/en/newsroom/news/umicore-inaugurates-europes-first-battery-materials-gigafactory/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inaugurated</a> its carbon-neutral production facility for active cathode materials for electric vehicles in Nysa, Poland. The gigafactory will supply battery materials to Umicore&#8217;s car and battery cell customers in Europe and marks an important step in achieving the European Union&#8217;s ambition of having a battery ecosystem that is both sustainable and competitive on a global scale. Nysa&#8217;s annual production capacity is set to reach 20 GWh by the end of 2023 and 40 GWh in 2024, with the potential to rise to over 200 GWh, or 3 million electric vehicles, in the second half of the decade. This growth trajectory is part of Umicore&#8217;s ambition to reach a worldwide capacity of more than 400 GWh by 2030 and an overall strategy to establish fully integrated regional battery material value chains on three continents.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (<a href="https://mnre.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MNRE</a>) has issued an updated list of models and module manufacturers under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) order. The new entrants are Raajratna Ventures, Sahaj Solar, Shivam Photovoltaics, Neety Euro Asia Solar Energy, and Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments. Waaree Energies, RenewSys India, and Mundra Solar Energy added new modules to the ALMM list. For the first time, 600W and 650W modules have been added to the ALMM list by Waaree. There are now 66 module manufacturing units with a total of 18 GW of module capacity enlisted under the ALMM. The total also includes special project vehicles (SPVs) of companies. Only the models and manufacturers included in the list are eligible for government projects in the country, including the projects for the sale of electricity to the government.
<a href="https://www.sunmobility.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SUN Mobility</a>, a provider of energy infrastructure and for electric vehicles (EVs), partnered with <a href="https://www.eveez.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EVeez,</a> an EV subscription company, to deploy over 10,000 EVs across the country in the coming year. To promote mass adoption and usage of EVs, EVeez and SUN Mobility aim to offer co-mobility as a solution wherein the same vehicle can be used for various purposes by multiple people. For this deployment, EVeez will leverage SUN Mobility&#8217;s battery-swap solution-based Mobility-as-a-Service offering. This is integrated with EVs, smart batteries, and access to a wide network of swap points. As a part of this plan, approximately 200 vehicles would be added to EVeez&#8217;s on-ground fleet every month. Around 250 vehicles have already been deployed and are running across Delhi-NCR. Starting September, the operations are expected to expand further to Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Chandigarh Tricity. The partnership would provide customizable and integrated 2-wheeler swap solutions to the riders.
Tiger Brands, a South African packaged goods company, <a href="https://www.tigerbrands.com/Global/Articles/Tiger-Brands-to-Rollout-solar-power" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the rollout of solar power at its manufacturing sites through the procurement of power purchase agreements from independent power producers and other renewable energy options. The company plans a multi-million-rand investment to have 65% of the business&#8217;s electricity requirements at a manufacturing level across South Africa sourced from sustainable energy solutions by 2030. Onsite solar power, and other renewable energy solutions, will be installed at 35 Tiger Brands manufacturing sites across South Africa by 2030, beginning with four sites, which will generate 2 MW of power, providing at least a third of their power usage. The first four sites are Tiger Brands&#8217; Henneman Mill in the Free State, King Foods in the Northwest, and its Beverages and HPC (Home and Personal Care) manufacturing plants in Gauteng. Solar power generation at these sites is expected to go online between the last quarter of this year and the first quarter of 2023.
Bahrain launched its tendering process to <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/bahrains-ministry-of-electricity-and-water-affairs-launches-tender-for-72-mw-solar-plant-301608461.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">award</a> a 20-year contract for local or international bidders to build, own, operate, and maintain grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) modules with a minimum capacity of 72 MW in multiple premises located in Sakhir, south of the Kingdom. Bahrain seeks to build solar modules in the Bahrain International Circuit, University of Bahrain, Bahrain International Exhibition &amp; Convention Centre, and Al Dana Amphitheatre. The solar panels will be built on the rooftops, car park shades, electric vehicle charging stations, and ground of these organizations&#8217; facilities. To qualify for the tender, bidders must be engaged in the business of solar PV energy and have commissioned at least ten grid-tied solar PV projects. Bidders should have commissioned at least 40 MW grid-tied solar PV projects in any country in the last three years.
SOLAR PHILIPPINES Nueva Ecija is targeting to <a href="https://solarnuevaecija.ph/spnec-says-share-swap-to-be-completed-in-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">complete</a> its asset-for-share swap deal with its parent company, Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings, by the end of this year, with its stock rights offering expected to be completed in September. SPNEC&#8217;s offering is set from August 30 to September 5, 2022. With the completion of these transactions, it aims to complete the development of 10 GW of solar projects.

Bahrain has issued two tenders to develop 7.5 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems on government buildings and car parks. 
5 MW of rooftop solar tender 
The <a href="https://www.moe.gov.bh/?lan=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ministry of Education</a> issued a tender to develop 5 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems on buildings and car parks and electric vehicle charging stations at the Ministry of Education on a build, own, operate, and maintain (BOOM) basis.
The last date to submit bids is December 22, 2021. Bids will be opened the following day.
Bidders must furnish a tender bond of 5,000 BHD (~$13,261).
2.5 MW of rooftop solar tender
The <a href="https://www.mlsd.gov.bh/?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ministry of Labor and Social Development</a> floated a tender for 2.5 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects on buildings and car parks and electric vehicle charging stations at the Ministry of Labor and Social Development on a BOOM basis.
The last date to submit bids is December 22, 2021. Technical bids will be opened the next day.
Bidders must furnish a tender bond of 4,000 BHD (~$10,609).
Standard clauses for both tenders
The tender document fee for both tenders is 100 BHD (~$265.23). The last date to purchase tender documents is December 15, and the last date for pre-bid clarification is December 12.
Successful bidders will have to sign 20 years contracts for both tenders.
In May 2021, the Bahrain International Circuit, which hosts the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix, <a href="https://mercomindia.com/bahrain-formula-1-circuit-floats-tender-3-mw-carport/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the launch of an international public tender for a solar carport project at the circuit. The tender was floated in partnership with Bahrain’s Sustainable Energy Authority.
According to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s National Renewable Energy Action Plan, the country aims to develop 100-150 MW of decentralized renewable energy, including rooftop solar, solar lighting, biogas plants, and micro wind turbines. It also aims to develop large-scale renewable energy generation projects of 50-100 MW, including solar parks and waste-to-energy projects.
The Saudi Arabia-based Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation has <a href="https://mercomindia.com/renewables-40-share-power-investments-mena-2025/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">predicted</a> that the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) energy sector will receive investments worth $805 billion over the next five years.
