					</table><p>The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (<a href="https://mnre.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MNRE</a>) has added 3,709 MW of solar cell capacity under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II in its ninth revision.</p>
<p>The total enlisted capacity under ALMM-II has expanded to 35,468 MW.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.waaree.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Waaree Energies</a> has added 98 MW of G12R monocrystalline TOPCon (n-type) bifacial cells with dimensions of 210 mm × 182.3 mm. The cells will have an average solar cell efficiency of 25.39% and a wattage of 9.73 W. The enlisted capacity is valid from December 15, 2025, until December 14, 2029.</p>
<p><a href="https://avaadaelectro.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Avaada Electro</a> has expanded its ALMM-II capacity by 3,011 MW. The cells are G12R half-cut (n-type) TOPCon cells, with dimensions of 105 mm × 182.3 mm, and G12R full-cell (n-type) TOPCon cells, with dimensions of 210 mm × 182.3 mm.</p>
<p>The half-cut cells will have an average solar cell efficiency and wattage of 25.83% and 4.93 W, respectively.</p>
<p>The full cells will have an average solar cell efficiency and wattage of 25.71% and 9.83 W, respectively. Both types of cells will be valid from July 22, 2026, to July 21, 2030.</p>
<p>Emmvee Energy (<a href="https://emmvee.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Emmvee Group</a>) has added 600 MW of bifacial monocrystalline silicon TOPCon cells measuring 182.3 mm x 210 mm. The cells will have an average solar cell efficiency of 25.6% and a wattage of 9.8 W. The enlisted capacity is valid from July 31, 2025, until July 30, 2029.</p>
<p>In the last update, MNRE <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/solar-cell-capacity-under-almm-list-ii-grows-to-31-76-gw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expanded</a> the solar cell capacity under ALMM List-II to 31.76 GW</p>
<p>To enable higher scrutiny of the solar supply chain, MNRE has <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mnre-proposes-standardized-nomenclature-for-solar-cells-under-almm-list-ii" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposed</a> introducing a standardized nomenclature for solar photovoltaic cell models included in the ALMM List II.</p>
<p>Under the proposal, every solar cell model listed under ALMM List II would be assigned a standardized 14-digit alphanumeric identification code incorporating key technical characteristics, including the origin of the wafer, ingot, and polysilicon; cell technology; wafer size; number of busbars; and a manufacturer-specific identifier.</p>
<p>In August 2026, MNRE <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mnre-clarifies-almm-list-ii-rules-for-solar-cell-compliance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exempted</a> ALMM List II solar cells from net metering and open access projects until December 31, 2026. The exemption also extends to a few PM Surya Surya Ghar projects untill March 31, 2027, where the subsidy was forfeited under the ‘give-it-up’ option.</p>


Solar Cell Capacity Under ALMM Grows to 35.5 GW

					</table><p>The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (<a href="https://mnre.gov.in/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MNRE</a>) has updated the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II for solar cells, adding <a href="https://avaadaelectro.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Avaada Electro</a> as a new manufacturer and expanding <a href="https://www.fujiyamautlsolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fujiyama Power Systems&#8217;</a> approved manufacturing capacity.</p>
<p>According to the latest updated list, Avaada Electro has been included in ALMM List-II with 610 MW of TOPCon solar cell manufacturing capacity.</p>
<p>The Ministry has also revised Fujiyama Power Systems&#8217; approved manufacturing capacity. The company&#8217;s ALMM-listed capacity has been increased from 437 MW to 1,077 MW, an addition of 640 MW. The approved technology remains TOPCon.</p>
<p>As per the MNRE ALMM List-II update dated July 22, 2026, the total ALMM-listed domestic solar cell manufacturing capacity is 31.76 GW.</p>
<p>Apart from these changes, the capacities of other manufacturers remain unchanged from the previous update issued on April 30, 2026. Companies such as Emmvee Energy, Premier Energies Photovoltaic, Premier Energies International, Indosolar, Reliance Industries, Tata Power Solar Systems, Waaree Energies, Websol Energy System, and others continue to retain their previously approved capacities.</p>
<p>The update comes as the domestic solar industry continues to grapple with a significant gap between ALMM-listed module manufacturing capacity and domestic solar cell production capacity following the implementation of ALMM List-II from June 1 this year.</p>
<p>The addition of new manufacturers and capacity expansions is expected to gradually improve the availability of domestically manufactured cells for projects that are required to comply with domestic content requirements under ALMM.</p>
<p>In May this year, MNRE <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/solar-cell-capacity-under-almm-list-ii-nears-30-gw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expanded</a> the ALMM List-II for solar cells to 30.509 GW from 30.057 GW in April.</p>
<p>Recently, MNRE <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mnre-extends-almm-cell-exemption-for-net-metering-open-access-solar-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">extended</a> the exemption from the ALMM List-II requirement for solar cells for net metering and open access renewable energy projects commissioned on or before December 31, 2026. The Ministry clarified that the exemption is limited to these project categories and does not constitute a blanket extension of the ALMM List-II implementation timeline.</p>

					</table><p><a href="https://avaadaelectro.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Avaada Electro</a>, the solar manufacturing arm of <a href="https://www.avaada.com/?gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=23835176595&amp;gbraid=0AAAAArAx1NjQZVha7PstmuySXxwM1W6SC&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwmdLSBhANEiwAkREMN_VylPJz2OJZOVJT8qqsjMljLTnduQKXJXozTrl0u1452vX86L0DrBoCU0gQAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Avaada Group</a>, has commissioned the first 3 GW production line at its planned 6 GW N Type Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) solar cell manufacturing facility in Butibori, Nagpur, Maharashtra.</p>
<p>The company said the remaining 3 GW capacity is currently under ramp-up.</p>
<p>According to the company, the facility is equipped with N Type TOPCon cell manufacturing technology capable of achieving cell efficiencies of up to 25.5% under standard test conditions.</p>
<p>The production lines incorporate 16 busbar and 18 busbar cell architectures, which the company said are designed to improve power density, reliability, and energy yield.</p>
<p>The Nagpur solar cell plant forms part of Avaada Electro&#8217;s broader manufacturing expansion plans. The company said it currently operates 8.5 GW of N-type TOPCon glass-to-glass solar module manufacturing capacity across its Nagpur and Dadri facilities. It plans to add another 5.1 GW of module manufacturing capacity, increasing the total to 13.6 GW.</p>
<p>The company also said it is progressing with plans to establish an additional 6 GW solar cell manufacturing line at Greater Noida, which would increase its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 12 GW. As part of its backward integration strategy, it is also planning to establish 3 GW of ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity at Nagpur.</p>
<p>Vineet Mittal, Chairman and Whole-Time Director at Avaada Electro, said the Nagpur facility is intended to strengthen domestic solar manufacturing and reduce reliance on imported components.</p>
<p>According to the company, the integrated manufacturing facility is intended to improve supply chain resilience, enhance operational efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and increase localization across the solar value chain.</p>
<p>Avaada Group has businesses spanning renewable power generation, solar manufacturing, green hydrogen and its derivatives, energy storage, and pumped storage. Avaada Energy&#8217;s renewable energy portfolio exceeds 17.7 GW, including more than 7.2 GW in operation and about 10.5 GW under construction.</p>
<p>Last month, the Avaada Group <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/avaada-group-secures-950-million-for-renewable-energy-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> $950 million in financing from a consortium of global and domestic banks for renewable energy projects in India.</p>
<p>Earlier, the company <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/avaada-opens-1-5-gw-solar-module-manufacturing-plant-in-uttar-pradesh" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inaugurated</a> a 1.5 GW solar module manufacturing gigafactory in Dadri, Noida.</p>
