Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company Sunkind Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ConfirmWare PV Manufacturing Solutions to develop 4 GW of solar module and cell manufacturing units.
Sunkind Energy will commission two manufacturing units, one each in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, having begun the groundwork on the facilities’ sites.
The Madhya Pradesh unit will produce modules and cells with a total capacity of 2.5 GW. The Rajasthan unit, which will only produce modules, has a capacity of 1.5 GW. Both manufacturing units will produce 610 W TOPCon modules using M10 monocrystalline silicon cells.
The Madhya Pradesh unit is expected to commence manufacturing modules by the end of 2026 and cells by mid-2027. The Rajasthan facility is scheduled to start production by November 2025.
ConfirmWare specializes in the research, development, and manufacturing of solar equipment. The company’s products include automatic solar panel manufacturing equipment and sortation systems. Apart from China, it serves customers in multiple countries in North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and India, the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, South Korea, and Kazakhstan.
The partnership will combine ConfirmWare’s stringer and automation technology with Sunkind Energy’s manufacturing roadmap.
Sunkind has over 150 MW of delivered solar projects and a growing footprint across multiple states and diversified sectors in India. The company is also planning to expand to energy storage, electric vehicle infrastructure, and single-axis tracker-based module mounting.
In 2024, India added 25.3 GW of solar module capacity and 11.6 GW of solar cell capacity, according to Mercom’s recently released State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 2025 report.
The top 10 manufacturers accounted for over 54% of the module and almost 100% of cell production capacity as of December 2024. The manufacturing capacity additions in 2024 were primarily driven by demand from the solar project pipeline and the reimposition of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers order from April 2024.
