Sterling and Wilson Bags BoS Order Worth ₹22 Billion for NTPC’s 1,255 MW Solar Project

Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy has emerged as the lowest (L1) bidder for the balance of system (BoS) package comprising four blocks of the proposed 1,255 MW of solar power projects being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy at the Khavda Renewable Park in the Kutch area of Gujarat.

The total contract value, including three years of operation and maintenance (O&M), is about ₹22 billion (~$275.41 million).

The formal letter of intent and the signing of contracts will take place in due course of time.

In June this year, NTPC Renewable Energy invited bids for the BoS package for 1,255 MW (3*315 MW+1*310 MW) of solar projects at the Khavda Renewable Park. The scope of work includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar power projects, excluding the supply of solar modules.

The successful bidder will also be responsible for designing and constructing the foundation and erection of module mounting structures with a tracker-based technology for the solar panels, including fixing the modules on the tracker and solar modules interconnection.

Earlier, NTPC Renewable Energy had invited bids for a BoS package for 325 MW of solar projects located at Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh.

Sterling and Wilson emerged as one of the top engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) service-providing companies in Mercom’s India Solar Market Leaderboard 2021. Sterling and Wilson led the segment with a market share of 12%.

In February this year, Reliance New Energy Solar, the green energy arm of  Reliance Industries, completed the 40% stake acquisition in Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy. Reliance acquired the stake through a primary investment, a secondary purchase, and an open offer. In October 2021, Reliance made an open offer for a 25.9% public shareholding in Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy.
