RenewSys to Supply 300 MW of Solar Encapsulants to Icon Solar

Mumbai-headquartered RenewSys India, manufacturer of solar modules and key components, has signed an agreement to supply 300 MW of high-performance solar encapsulants to Chhattisgarh-based solar solutions company, ICON Solaren Power Technologies (Icon Solar), to support large-scale solar module production.
RenewSys will supply Icon Solar with its polyolefin elastomer encapsulants.
Polyolefin elastomer encapsulant films ensure strong adhesion between solar cell layers to maintain electrical insulation and enable long-term durability under varied operating conditions.
RenewSys claims this technology will provide enhanced durability, superior resistance to potential-induced degradation, and long-term field performance for the solar cells.
Under the supply agreement, RenewSys will execute the supply order between January and April 2026.
RenewSys manufacturers multiple solar components. Its portfolio includes 30 GW of encapsulants and 4 GW of solar backsheets. It is also installing a 5 GW solar cell line.
Recently, RenewSys signed a 1.1 GW supply agreement for its polyolefin elastomer encapsulants with Kosol Energie.
In May this year, RenewSys announced a significant expansion of its encapsulant manufacturing capacity by adding eight new production lines at its facility in Khopoli, Maharashtra. This development will increase the company’s total encapsulant production capacity to 30 GW.
In September, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies initiated an investigation into the alleged dumping of solar encapsulants exported from and originating in South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. The investigation is in response to a complaint that the encapsulants dumped into India from the three countries are identical to those produced by the domestic industry.
Indian solar ancillary component manufacturers had urged the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy last year to mandate the use of domestically manufactured solar components, including encapsulants, in government projects to create a robust local supply chain and reduce the reliance on imports.
India’s solar cell and module manufacturing has been growing rapidly, but the components ecosystem, comprising encapsulants, backsheets, glass, junction boxes, aluminum frames, and mounting structures, continues to rely heavily on imports.
