Project Finance Brief: Green Genius Secures $75 Million for 182 MW Solar Projects

DRI secures $70 million financing for 126 MW solar project in Romania

Green Genius, a renewable energy company, entered into financing agreements for up to €64 million (~$75 million) with the Nordic Investment Bank and NORD/LB. The funding will be used for the development of two solar projects totaling 182 MWp in Lithuania. Both solar projects have a capacity of 91 MW, and are located in Izabelinė, Ignalina municipality, and Lieponys, Trakai district.

DRI, an Amsterdam-based renewable energy company and a subsidiary of the DTEK Group, secured non-recourse loans of up to €60 million (~$70 million) to finance the development and construction of the 126 MW Vacaresti solar project in Romania. UniCredit and Garanti BBVA provided the loan, which is structurally aligned with Green Loan Principles and the EU Taxonomy Alignment Criteria.

Renewable energy independent power producer ACME Solar Holdings’ wholly owned subsidiary, ACME Hybrid Urja, has secured long-term project financing of ₹31.84 billion (~$363.72 million) from REC to develop a 280 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project.  This project has been contracted with NHPC.

ENGIE Energía Perú, a power generation and transmission company and a subsidiary of energy firm ENGIE, secured a corporate loan of up to $600 million from the International Finance Corporation , a member of the World Bank Group, to support the development of its renewable energy projects in Peru. The first tranche of the loan, totaling $120 million, is structured as a Green and Sustainability-Linked Loan.

SolAmerica Energy, a developer, owner, and operator of solar projects, secured a $100 million revolving credit facility from Deutsche Bank. The funding will be used for the development of the company’s growing portfolio of projects and equipment, including solar modules and inverters, to be used in projects, as well as project construction.
