PFC Consulting has invited bids to set up an intrastate transmission system by setting up the 400 kV Igatpuri-Murbad switching station to evacuate 2.7 GW of pumped storage capacity in Thane, Maharashtra.

The scope of work includes survey, formulation of a detailed project report, arranging finance, project management, securing consents and clearances, design, engineering, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning.

The project involves establishing an intrastate transmission system by developing the 400 kV switching substation in the Igatpuri-Murbad region of Maharashtra to support power supply and evacuation for the proposed pumped storage projects. The infrastructure will enable the evacuation of approximately 2 GW of proposed capacity and about 700 MW of envisaged future capacity to  load centers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The last date to submit bids is June 2, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

The successful bidder must submit a contract performance guarantee of ₹14 million (~$149,114) within 10 days of the issuance of the letter of intent.

The project must be completed within two years of the contract award.

Bidders should have developed infrastructure projects in the last five years, with aggregate capital expenditure of not less than ₹5 billion (~$53.26 million), and with the capital expenditure of each project being at least ₹1 billion (~$10.65 million).

Alternatively, they should have received aggregate payments of not less than ₹5 billion (~$53.26 million) from their clients for construction works fully completed during the last five financial years, with payments from each project of at least ₹1 billion (~$10.65 million).

The net worth of bidders should be at least ₹2.5 billion (~$26.63 million) in any of the last three financial years.

The transmission service provider should ensure the transfer of all project assets, along with substation land, right-of-way, and clearances, to the state transmission utility after 35 years from the project’s commissioning.

Recently, PFC Consulting invited bids to establish an interstate transmission system (ISTS) to evacuate 5.5 GW of renewable energy from the Jam Khambhaliya Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) (Phase II) and 1 GW from Jamnagar (Phase I).

Earlier, PFC Consulting invited bids to establish an ISTS to integrate 3 GW of renewable energy from the Ananthapuram-III PS REZ Phase I.
