NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC, has invited bids to procure 12,000 MWh/day of power from generators or energy storage providers during the upcoming high-demand period.
The contract period will be from April 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026.
Bids must be submitted by February 25, 2026. Bids will be opened the following day.
The tender carries a bid security of ₹6,000 (~$66.25)/MWh of the capacity bid for.
Successful bidders must furnish a contract performance guarantee for ₹33,000 (~$364.37)/MWh within seven days from the date of the letter of award from NVVN.
The cumulative generation days, as given by the National Load Despatch Center (NLDC) on a provisional basis for the crunch period, will be 50 days.
The contracted capacity should be able to be dispatched on stressed days during non-solar-peak hours for a minimum of two hours and a maximum of six hours.
The generation profile of identified procured resources would be a minimum of 50% of contracted capacity for the generators or energy storage providers selected for the duration quoted in the bid, and may be scheduled up to 100% of contracted capacity during non-solar peak hours as per grid requirements.
The generators or energy storage providers connected to the interstate or intrastate transmission system participating in the bid should have all necessary infrastructure in place and the capability to schedule and settle on a 15-minute time-block basis, as specified in the Indian Electricity Grid Code.
The selected generators or energy storage providers can also seek avenues for selling power for part or the full crunch period, and such sales should be executed through the nodal agency.
NVVN will charge a trading margin of ₹0.06 (~$0.0006)/kWh to generators or energy storage providers under this program for energy scheduled through various segments.
Last December, NVVN issued a request for selection for battery energy storage system (BESS) developers to establish a 125 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS project in Chhattisgarh. The project must be set up near the 220 kV Khedamara Substation in Durg district.
Earlier, NVVN had invited bids to set up a 250 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS in Kerala. The BESS installation will be at the 220 kV Brahmapuram substation in Kochi, Kerala, with an interconnection at the 220 kV voltage level.
