NTPC has invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction of grid-connected rooftop solar power projects with a cumulative capacity of 4,106 kW at five locations of the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR).

The scope of work also includes design, testing, and commissioning, as well as other activities such as rooftop strength testing, water arrangements, electricity provisions, security measures, transportation logistics, and the assessment of potential capacity needed to establish solar projects.

The successful bidder will oversee operations and maintenance activities for a period of 10 years.

The last date for the submission of bids is January 16, 2024. Bids will be opened on January 17.

The projects must be installed in areas with minimal shadows, ensuring optimal power generation on each building.

The final project capacity will align with the detailed engineering and approved design for the solar installations.

NTPC plans to fund the package using domestic or internal resources.

Bidders have to pay a bid security of ₹2 million (~$24,014). They will have 120 days to complete the work.

Within 28 days of receiving the notification of award, the successful bidder must furnish a performance bank guarantee of 10% of the contract price.

Bidders must visit the location and gather essential details needed for the installation of solar projects before submitting their bids.

Participation in the bidding process is restricted to only Class-I and Class-II local suppliers.

To qualify as a ‘Class-I local supplier,’ a bidder/supplier must have a minimum local content of 50%. For ‘Class-II local suppliers,’ the requirement for ‘local content’ is a minimum of 20%.

The average annual turnover of the bidders over the last three financial years should not fall below ₹201 million (~$2.4 million).

Bidders must have a net worth of at least 100% of the paid-up share capital.

Recently, NTPC invited bids to set up 1,500 MW of ISTS-connected solar power projects across India.
