NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL) has invited bids for the interconnecting transformer package for 900 MW solar projects.

Bids must be submitted by May 27, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, testing, packing, forwarding, transportation, unloading, and supervision of the erection and commissioning of two 500 MVA, 400/220/33 kV three-phase interconnecting transformers, along with all required accessories.

Bidders must furnish a bid security of ₹10 million (~$105,320).

The project is located in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, and the deliverables include the supply and commissioning of associated systems, including fire protection systems for each transformer, as well as monitoring equipment, including online dissolved gas analyzers and portable online moisture removal systems.

In addition, the selected bidder must supply various operational and maintenance tools and equipment, including insulation testers, oil tankers, oil purification units, IR cameras, and automatic tan delta kits.

The scope further covers conducting complete routine and type tests in accordance with applicable IEC and IS standards, carrying out short-circuit testing as required, and supplying mandatory spares.

Bidders should have experience in designing, manufacturing, and supplying at least one 400 kV or higher-voltage-class transformer with a minimum capacity of 500 MVA, or must possess fully established in-house facilities for designing and manufacturing such high-voltage transformers.

In addition, they must have supplied at least two transformers with a voltage class of 220 kV or higher and a minimum capacity of 100 MVA at two different installations, and these transformers must have been in successful operation for at least 2 years.

Bidders must also have in-house facilities for conducting routine and type tests in accordance with IS 2026/IEC 60076 standards (excluding short-circuit tests) and must demonstrate that at least one oil-filled transformer of 100 MVA or higher capacity (220 kV or above) has successfully undergone a short-circuit test. Compliance with dynamic short-circuit withstand testing as per IEC 60076-5 is also mandatory.

Bidders must have an average annual turnover of at least ₹440 million (~$4.63 million) over the last three financial years.

Their net worth as of the last financial year should be at least equal to 100% of their paid-up share capital.

In April, NTPC REL invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction of 900 MW solar projects at Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh.
