NLC India has invited bids to lease 1,500 acres of land in Gujarat for the development of solar projects.

Bidders must arrange government or private land parcels through a lease arrangement on behalf of NLC India Renewables (NIRL).

The tender has specified the land requirement based on a benchmark of five acres per MW for solar project development.

Bids must be submitted by June 23, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Bidders must pay a non-refundable tender fee of ₹20,000 (~$207) and an earnest money deposit of ₹9.11 million (~$94,385). The selected bidder must furnish a performance security equivalent to 0.5% of the contract value.

The scope of work includes arranging land on a leasehold basis, conducting topographical surveys, and carrying out site-enabling activities.

The successful bidder must also obtain all statutory permits, no-objection certificates, approvals, and clearances related to the land, including land-use conversion approvals, if required.

The lease period must be for at least 29 years and 11 months.

The land parcels offered under the bid must be located within a maximum radius of 50 km from the nearest pooling substation of the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation or the State Transmission Utility at voltage levels of 132 kV and above.

Civil and site-enabling works, including fencing, drainage systems, culverts, and surveys, are also part of the scope. The tender states that all civil works and materials must comply with applicable Bureau of Indian Standards and Indian Standards requirements.

Bidders must have experience arranging at least 300 cumulative acres of land through purchase or lease for government agencies, public sector undertakings, public limited companies, quasi-government organizations, autonomous bodies, or private registered companies in India.

Alternatively, they must demonstrate the availability of at least 300 acres of land in Gujarat, supported by registered agreements, memoranda of understanding, land ownership documents, or powers of attorney from landowners.

Bidders must have a positive net worth in the latest audited financial year.

The contract must be completed within nine months from the date of issuance of the Letter of Award.

The tender is open only to Class I local suppliers with a minimum local content of 50%. Class II local suppliers, defined as suppliers with local content between 20% and 50%, are not eligible to participate.

Last November, NLC India invited bids to arrange 1,850 acres of land for the development of interstate transmission system-connected solar power projects and associated equipment, along with the extra-high-voltage transmission line and land fencing.
