NHPC has issued a request for selection (RfS) to set up 1,200 MW of ground-mounted solar projects at the Jalaun Solar Park in Uttar Pradesh. Bundelkhand Saur Urja, a joint venture of NHPC and Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency, is developing the solar park.

Bids must be sent by September 5, 2025. Bids will be opened on September 10.

Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹100 million (~$1.14 million).

The maximum bid capacity is 600 MW, and the minimum is 300 MW.

Bidders applying for 300 MW capacity must submit a tender fee of ₹2 million (~$22,927.21) plus 18% GST. Those applying for a 600 MW capacity must submit ₹3 million (~$34,390.81) plus 18% GST.

Selected bidders must sign a power purchase agreement (PPA) with NHPC for 25 years.

The scope of work entails the development of the solar projects until the interconnection point at the incoming side of the pooling substation. It also involves providing operation and maintenance services.

Selected bidders must obtain clearances and permits for the solar projects.

They can choose the solar technology they want to use. However, only commercially established technologies are permitted for the projects to ensure that the power generation criterion is met. The project must maintain a minimum capacity utilization factor of 26%.

Successful bidders can execute the projects through a special purpose vehicle.

The scheduled power supply commencement date is 18 months from the PPA.

Bidders must be a company or a consortium of companies with one of the entities acting as the lead member of the bidding consortium.

Bidders must have a minimum net worth of ₹7.94 million (~$91,112.73) of the quoted capacity as on the last date of the previous financial year or seven days before the bid submission deadline.

Bidders must have a minimum annual turnover of ₹11.92 million (~$136,669) of the quoted capacity during the last financial year. They must have a working capital of ₹4.41 million (~$50,611.81).

In June this year, NHPC issued an RfS to set up grid-connected rooftop solar projects with a cumulative capacity of 19.2 MW on government buildings in Haryana.

In the same month, NHPC issued an RfS to set up 5.6 MW of rooftop solar projects on government buildings in Sikkim.
