Neyveli Lignite Corporation Invites Expression of Interest for 5 MW Floating Solar Project

The Neyveli Lignite Corporation has proposed to develop a 5 MW floating solar power project in Andaman & Nicobar. The company has invited an expression of Interest from companies with experience in the field of installing floating solar power projects or having technology for installing large scale floating platforms.

The 5 MW floating solar project will be deployed at the Kaplong Hydro Electric Project in North Andaman. Neyveli Lignite has asked interested entities to provide:

  • Details of the technologies adopted by them for floating platforms
  • Details of experience in this area and completed project details, if any
  • Tentative cost details for erection of floating platforms with or without solar PV systems

For this project the tender is expected to be out in 20 days, stated a company official. Neyveli Lignite is expecting the project to be commissioned within eight months from the award of the contract. Neyveli Lignite is planning to tender the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services for the project added the NLC official. The official further commented that the they will sell power generated from this project to Andaman & Nicobar.

The company is planning to set up solar projects aggregating 50 MW in Andaman & Nicobar.
