Renewable Energy Capacity Expansions Drive JSW Energy’s Q2 Revenue Up 55% YoY

Independent power producer JSW Energy reported a revenue of ₹53.61 billion (~$609.91 million) in the second quarter (Q2) of the financial year (FY) 2025-26, an increase of 55% YoY from ₹34.59 billion (~$393.52 million).
The rise in revenue was due to renewable energy capacity expansions and contributions from O2 Power and the Mahanadi plant.
The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) rose 67% YoY to ₹31.8 billion (~$361.78 million) from ₹19.07 billion (~$216.96 million) in Q2 FY25.
JSW’s quarterly net profit fell 17% YoY to ₹7.05 billion (~$80.21 million) from ₹8.53 billion (~$97.04 million).
Its earnings per share came in at ₹4.04 (~$0.046) compared to ₹4.89 (~$0.056) during the same period the previous year.
The company added 443 MW during the quarter, comprising 240 MW Kutehr hydroelectric and 203 MW of renewable capacity. Net generation rose 52% YoY to 14.9 BUs, primarily driven by organic wind capacity additions and contributions from O2 Power, the Mahanadi plant, and Utkal Unit-II.
Renewable generation grew 42% YoY to 7.1 BUs, while thermal generation increased 62% YoY to 7.8 BUs.
In September, JSW commissioned 114 MW of renewable energy capacity.
1H FY26
JSW’s total revenue for the first half (1H) of FY 2026 rose 66% YoY to ₹107.72 billion (~$1.23 billion) from ₹65.02 billion (~$739.07 million).
The company’s EBITDA rose 79% YoY to ₹62.37 billion (~$709.57 million) from ₹34.88 billion (~$396.82 million).
Net profit grew 5% YoY to ₹14.48 billion (~$164.74 million) from ₹13.75 billion (~$156.43 million).
Earnings per share came in at ₹8.29 (~$0.094) compared to ₹7.88 (~$0.090) during the same period the previous year.
JSW has an installed capacity of 3,709 MW of wind, 2,213 MW of solar, and 1,631 MW of hydropower. Approximately 2,300 MW of wind, 3,398 MW of solar, and 5,242 MW of hybrid power projects are under construction.
The company also has a locked-in capacity of 3 GWh of battery storage and 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage. JSW has a target of installing 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030.
JSW Energy reported a revenue of ₹54.11 billion (~$620.58 million) in Q1 FY 2026, an increase of 78% YoY from ₹30.43 billion (~$349.01 million). The rise in revenue was due to a combination of strategic acquisitions, capacity expansions, and higher generation across the thermal and renewable segments.
