India’s energy demand is projected to grow rapidly in the next decade as its economy expands and the population rises.

The country will need to provide affordable and reliable energy while reducing dependence on fossil fuels and cutting down environmental and health costs. To that end, India  has set a bold target of achieving 450 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, making it one of the world’s largest green energy markets. India has also committed to achieving net zero by 2070.

The sheer scale of proposed renewable capacity addition provides unprecedented opportunities for domestic and global renewable players to innovate and execute in a challenging domestic policy environment amidst a shifting global renewable supply chain.

This approach will be discussed at ‘Mercom India Renewables Summit 2023,’ an exclusive event on April 26-27 in New Delhi.

One of the sessions at the event will be ‘India’s Energy Transition – Markets and Opportunities,’ scheduled for April 26, 2023. The panelists will engage in strategic discussions with policymakers, regulators, investors, developers, and stakeholders to help shape the vision and roadmap for India’s renewable energy future.

The session will feature Mohit Bhargava, Executive Director at NTPC Renewable Energy, Ivan Saha, CEO at Vikram Solar, and Raj Prabhu, CEO & Co-Founder at Mercom Capital Group.

Priya Sanjay, Managing Director, Mercom India, will moderate the session.

The panel will explore the path to net zero and discuss how India can add 450 GW of renewable energy by 2030, including the investments needed to make this a reality. The discussion will also touch on demand-supply scenarios, infrastructure, and policies required to instil confidence in the investment community to fund this massive transition to renewables.

Mercom will also host its third annual Mercom India Awards at the Summit, recognizing the exceptional achievement and technological innovations by companies contributing to India’s clean energy industry.

The event will also, for the first time, feature a Startup Pitch Competition, which will provide the stage for Indian entrepreneurs and companies to present their innovative cleantech ideas or technologies in early-stage development.
