Eastern Railways has invited bids to install grid-connected rooftop solar power projects of 2 MW capacity under the public-private partnership mode to supply power to the Sealdah division in Kolkata.

The last date for the submission of bids is December 26, 2023. Bids will be opened the same day.

The project will include 40 rooftop solar systems with 50 kW capacity spanning six locations within the Sealdah Division.

The solar power generated by the project will be exclusively utilized by Eastern Railways. The initiative is designed to diminish the reliance on conventional electricity from the main grid powered by fossil fuels.

Bidders are required to make a payment of ₹34,810 (~$418) as the tender cost and an earnest money deposit of ₹1.07 million (~$12,839) per MW of the quoted capacity.

The winning bidders must submit a performance bank guarantee of ₹1.6 million (~$19,198) per MW of the awarded capacity within 30 days of signing the power purchase agreement.

Bidders must possess a track record of effectively installing grid-connected solar rooftop systems with a minimum capacity of 200 kW, either as a developer or an engineering, procurement, and construction provider.

Alternatively, they should have a history of installing and commissioning a minimum total capacity of 1 MW in any grid-connected system, irrespective of the sector (residential, social, industrial, commercial, or government), either as a developer or an EPC provider.

Bidders should have an average annual turnover of ₹15 million (~$179,969) and have a positive net worth in the last three financial years.

In case a parent company is involved, the eligibility criteria of the parent company will be considered for determining the bidder’s eligibility, provided that the parent company holds a minimum of 26% shares in the bidding company.

In February, the South Eastern Railway issued a tender for the empanelment of developers to implement grid-connected rooftop solar projects of various capacities in West Bengal through the public-private partnership mode.

The Danapur railway division of the East Central Railway invited bids for state-wise empanelment of agencies to implement 3.252 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
