CIL Subsidiary Floats Tender for 8.5 MW Solar Project in Jharkhand

SJVN Green Energy has invited bids to supply a balance of system package and comprehensive operation and maintenance for three years for a 75 MW grid-connected solar project at Jamui district in Bihar. The last date to submit the bids is August 31, 2023. Bids will be opened on the same day. The cost of the bidding document is ₹5,000 (~$60.47). Bidders must furnish an Earnest Money Deposit of ₹23.5 million (~$284,239).

The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute has invited bids for the implementation of a grid-connected 8.5 MW solar power project for Central Coalfields Limited, Ranchi, at Bokaro, Jharkhand. The last date for the submission of bids is August 31, 2023. Bids will be opened on September 1. The scope of the work includes the design, supply, erection, commissioning, and testing of the solar project, along with five years of comprehensive operation and maintenance. The work is estimated to cost ₹ 62.9 million (~$760,717).

The replacement and upgradation of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems at various state load despatch centers will be completed by 2026, Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy R. K. Singh told Parliament. The government has put in place a comprehensive range of advanced technologies and strategic regulations to bolster the power grid’s efficiency, reliability, and security. These encompass real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, cybersecurity enhancements, and innovative methods for construction and inspection.

Tata Power reported a net profit of ₹11.41 billion (~$137.71 million) in the first quarter of the financial year 2024, marking a growth of 29% year-over-year (YoY). Strong performance across all business segments led to an increase in profits. The company reported a net profit growth YoY for the 15th consecutive quarter. Tata Power’s consolidated revenue stood at ₹150.03 billion (~$1.81 billion), a marginal increase of 2% YoY, on the back of higher sales across distribution companies and renewable capacity additions.

U.S.-based solar tracker systems provider FTC Solar‘s net loss narrowed to $7.2 million for the second quarter of the financial year 2023 from $18.2 million YoY on the back of reduced manufacturing costs, increased product volume, higher product direct margins, and lower operating expenses. The company recorded a revenue of $32.3 million during the April- June period, a 5% YoY increase. The company’s adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization for the quarter was $7.23 million, a YoY decrease of 60%.

China’s functional pumped storage capacity has touched 50 GW as of May 2023, representing 30% of global capacity and surpassing all other nations, according to data from the United States Energy Information Administration. China has been constructing pumped-storage hydroelectric projects to enhance power grid adaptability and accommodate the expanding use of solar and wind energy. The country’s pumped-storage potential is poised for further expansion, with 89 GW of capacity currently in construction.
