As solar deployment accelerated across the country, domestic cell manufacturing emerged as a central pillar of India’s clean energy and industrial strategy. This session unpacked the progress made in reducing import dependence and expanding manufacturing capacity under policy frameworks such as the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). Panelists addressed cost competitiveness, technology depth, skilled workforce requirements, raw material access, and policy stability. They also examined how India could build a resilient and globally competitive solar cell manufacturing ecosystem.
