Mumbai-based battery solutions provider Coulomb Litech has raised ₹200 million (~$2.21 million) in its latest seed round, aiming to accelerate the electrification of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles through its fast-charging battery technology.
The funding will be used to develop Made-in-India, high-performance battery solutions designed for the toughest use cases.
Over the past five years, Coulomb Litech has deployed its fast-charging batteries across challenging segments, including e-tractors, material-handling equipment such as forklifts, light commercial vehicles, and cranes.
The company is now gearing up to expand into allied verticals and scale its impact across the broader commercial EV ecosystem.
Founded in 2020 by Ameya Sathe and Darshil Dharod, the company has a 40,000-square-foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Navi Mumbai with an annual capacity of 1GWh.
The company specializes in in-house technologies like modular high-voltage battery management systems, liquid-cooling systems compatible with 4 kWh to 100 kWh batteries, and a smart analytics platform. The battery systems are designed to operate over a voltage range of 51 to 1,200 volts.
It aims to enable EV adoption in the medium- to heavy-duty EV segment and minimize the cost of ownership through product innovation.
EV sales in India reached a record 2.27 million units in 2025, an over 16% year-over-year increase from 1.95 million units sold in 2025. EVs accounted for 8% of overall automobile sales, according to data released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The EV market consistently surpassed the 100,000 unit mark each month, with October recording the highest sales at 236,629 units, followed by November at 218,641 units and March at 205,299 units.
Maharashtra had the highest number of EVs sold, with 266,524 vehicles, followed by Karnataka with 203,288 and Madhya Pradesh with 139,537. India now has 8.1 million registered EVs.
Last month, the Ministry of Heavy Industries notified amendments to the Production-Linked Incentive program for the automobile and auto components industry. The amendments have revised the performance criteria for EVs eligible for incentives and aligned them with new national electric mobility programs, such as the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement program.
