Asahi India Glass will procure 20.8 MW of wind-solar hybrid power from Adani Green Energy’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Adani Green Energy Twenty Five B. The power will be supplied in captive mode from a 25 MW solar and a 20.8 MW wind power project, both located in Khavda, Gujarat.

Adani Green and Asahi have executed power consumption and investment agreements for the supply of power.

Asahi India will subscribe to at least 26% of the generator’s proportionate equity share capital for the project. This subscription will be carried out in one or more tranches to ensure compliance with the minimum captive shareholding requirements.

Upon the project’s final phase completion date, Adani Green’s subsidiary will hold 98.78% of the generator’s equity share capital, while Asahi India will hold 1.22% equity with voting rights.

Asahi India is an integrated glass and window solutions company, aims to shift up to 70% of its energy consumption to renewable sources by 2030.

The company has also commissioned a green hydrogen initiative at its Soniyana float glass facility in Rajasthan. It had also signed a 20-year contract with Inox Air to procure 95 tons of green hydrogen annually for its new greenfield float glass facility in Chittorgarh district, Rajasthan.

Asahi India’s total electricity consumption from solar and wind sources stands at 490,877 gigajoules (GJ), while grid-based electricity consumption is reported at 726,771 GJ.

Businesses in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector are increasingly augmenting their power procurement from renewable sources to reduce reliance on expensive grid power and become more sustainable.
