The Andhra Pradesh government has greenlighted renewable energy projects totaling ₹158 billion (~$1.75 billion) at the 14th State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting.

The approvals for renewable energy projects were part of the ₹193.91 billion (~$2.15 billion) investments cleared in the meeting.

The government approved Tata Power’s investment plan of ₹66.75 billion (~$740 million) to develop a 10 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing plant in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.

The establishment of an ingot and wafer manufacturing plant comes in the background of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy proposing an Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM-III) for ingots and wafers. The government proposes that all projects falling under ALMM’s purview must mandatorily source their modules from ALMM List-I. Such modules must also use solar cells from the ALMM List-II for solar cells. The cells, in turn, must use wafers from ALMM List-III.

In the SIPB meeting, approval was also given for a 35.38 billion (~$392 million) plan by Websol Energy System to establish a 4 GW integrated solar module and cell manufacturing plant in Naidupeta.

The state government also approved Shirdi Sai Electrical’s proposal to set up a transformer component and wind-mast manufacturing and fabrication facility in Kadapa at a cost of ₹55.71 billion (~$617.8 million).

In November 2025, decarbonization solutions company ReNew also announced plans to invest approximately ₹600 billion (~$6.65 billion) to set up multiple green energy projects in Andhra Pradesh.

The investment will be used to establish a 6 GW solar ingot-wafer manufacturing plant, a 2 GW pumped hydro project, a 3,000 kilotons-per-annum green ammonia facility, and 5 GW of hybrid renewable energy projects, comprising wind, solar, and solar-battery energy storage systems.

To ramp up clean energy projects, the Andhra Pradesh Energy Department issued operational guidelines on resource allocation, land allotment, grid connectivity, open access, banking facility, project migration, fees, and incentives under the Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024.
