Waaree Energies Commissions 950 MW Solar Module Plant in Gujarat

Solar module manufacturer Waaree Energies has commenced commercial operations at its 950 MW solar module manufacturing plant located in the Navsari district of Gujarat.

The company is planning new facilities for 3 GW of modules at Samakhiali, Gujarat; 3 GW of modules in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, or any other location; 6 GW of solar cells at Unn, Gujarat; and 6 GW of ingots and wafers at Nagpur, Maharashtra.

As of the first quarter (Q1) of the financial year (FY) 2026, Waaree has a solar module manufacturing capacity of 15.1 GW and a solar cell manufacturing capacity of 5.4 GW.

In Q1 of FY 2026, Waaree achieved the highest-ever quarterly module production of 2.3 GW, compared to 1.4 GW in the corresponding quarter last year.

During the Q1 FY 2026 earnings call, the company announced that it was on track to commission an additional 1.6 GW module manufacturing facility in its Texas facility in the U.S. and a 3.2 GW plant in Gujarat.

In September 2025, a court in the U.S. approved the sale of Meyer Burger’s machinery and equipment for the production of solar modules to Waaree Solar Americas.

In the same month, the company invested ₹3 billion (~$33.79 million) in its wholly owned subsidiary, Waaree Energy Storage Solutions to establish a lithium-ion advanced chemistry storage cell manufacturing plant.

The Waaree Group is also foraying into other segments in the energy sector.

In September 2025, Waaree Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies, announced its decision to acquire a 76% stake in Maharashtra-based smart meter manufacturing company, Racemosa Energy.

In the same month, Waaree announced that it was acquiring a 64% equity stake in Kotsons, a Rajasthan-based power transformer solutions company, for ₹1.92 billion (~$21.79 million).

According to the Mercom India research report, India added 44.2 GW of solar module capacity and 7.5 GW of solar cell capacity in the first half (1H) of 2025, “State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 1H 2025.”
