Vikram Solar has commissioned its new manufacturing plant at Gangaikondan in Tamil Nadu. The facility has rolled out its first product, the Hypersol N-Type TOPCon G12R modules, which can deliver 615-640 Wp of rated power with module efficiencies of up to 23.69%.

The greenfield module manufacturing is leveraging automation to boost the Kolkata-headquartered company’s planned vertical integration across cell, wafer, and ingot manufacturing.

The facility’s key capabilities include real-time production tracking, automated quality checks at every stage, complete traceability, and automated handling at critical stages. The plant also uses smart systems to automatically grade, sort, and package modules based on their performance.

The plant is expected to generate employment for over 1,500 skilled professionals.

The product rollout comes months after Vikram Solar commissioned a 5 GW plant at Vallam in Tamil Nadu.

Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman & Managing Director at Vikram Solar, said, “Having crossed 10 GW in cumulative global module deployments earlier this year, we are building capacity against demonstrated demand. As we progressively add cell, wafer, and ingot production at this site, we are building an integrated manufacturing platform aligned with India’s domestic content framework, strengthening supply chain resilience, enhancing domestic value creation, and supporting India’s clean energy ambitions.”

Vikram Solar plans to establish 9 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity by financial year 2027, expand it by another 3 GW by 2028, and add 12 GW of wafer and ingot manufacturing capacity by 2029.

India added around 119 GW of solar module and over 9 GW of solar cell capacity in 2025, according to Mercom India’s State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 2026 report.

Earlier in May, Vikram Solar reported revenue of ₹14.53 billion (~$153.97 million) in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2026, marking a year-on-year increase of 21.7% from the previous year’s revenue from operations of ₹11.94 billion (~$126.52 million). The company clocked a quarterly module production of 971 MW in the fourth quarter of 2026, compared to 526 MW a year ago.
