Kolkata-based solar module manufacturer Vikram Solar has commissioned a 5 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Vallam, Tamil Nadu, increasing its total production capacity to 9.5 GW.
The facility covers 27,000 square meters and has been designed as a fully automated facility to ensure productivity, consistency in quality, and supply reliability.
The facility utilizes advanced TOPCon technology and is designed to support an upgrade to heterojunction technology. It can produce modules across M10, G12, and G12R formats.
Vikram Solar noted that the manufacturing line incorporates next-generation automation systems, including intelligent robotics, advanced material-handling systems, comprehensive built-in quality checks, and automated packaging.
The company said that this system architecture is intended to improve throughput, reduce module degradation, lower failure rates, and support high-volume operationsAll modules manufactured at the facility are expected to meet Tier-1 and international quality standards.
The company said the commissioning supports Tamil Nadu’s renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem, adding to its existing unit at Oragadam and the upcoming Gangaikondan facility.
The company has 4.5 GW of installed module manufacturing capacity and is on course to expand to 17.5 GW by the financial year 2027. It has targeted a solar cell manufacturing capacity of 12 GW by 2027.
A 6 GW module manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu and a 2 GW module facility in Kolkata are also expected to be commissioned in FY 2026, the company said.
In October this year, Vikram Solar received an order for 148.9 MW of high-efficiency solar modules from renewable energy solutions provider Sunsure Energy. Vikram Solar will provide its M10R N-Type TOPCon modules rated at 595 W, which will be deployed across Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
In September this year, Vikram Solar secured an order from AB Energia Solutions for the supply of 200 MW of solar modules, valued at approximately ₹2.73 billion (~$32.63 million).
