Topsun Energy has won Power Grid Corporation of India’s (PGCIL) auction for providing engineering, procurement, and construction services for a 2.1 MW off-grid solar project with a 300 kW/1,200 kWh battery energy storage system at the voltage source converter (VSC)-high voltage direct current (HVDC) station in Pang, Ladakh.
The project has been estimated at a contract value of ₹96.3 million (~$1.05 million) at the Pang HVDC station.
The tender was floated in May 2025.
Solluz Energy and Suryam International were the other qualified bidders in the auction.
The scope of work covers design, engineering, procurement, and supply of equipment and materials, testing at the manufacturer’s works, and erection, testing, and commissioning of the solar plus BESS project.
It also involves the supply of DC/DC converters, solar management unit/solar Inverters/power conditioning units, energy management system, supervisory control and data acquisition, and a weather monitoring station.
The project’s scope also encompasses design, fabrication, and assembly of a fully functional, transportable BESS.
Topsun Energy must use mono-crystalline and bifacial modules for the project.
Topsun Energy must also undertake geotechnical investigations, topographical surveys, earthworks, fencing, internal road laying, foundation works for panels and equipment, and the construction of an equipment room.
PGCIL is implementing a 350kV, 5,000 MW VSC-HVDC system from Pang to Kaithal, Haryana, to facilitate the evacuation of 13 GW of renewable power, comprising 9 GW of solar, 4 GW of wind, and 12 GWh of BESS.
To supply the construction power required for the VSC-HVDC Project at Pang, PGCIL planned this 2,100 kW off-grid solar power project, along with a 300 kW/1,200 kWh BESS, with a provision for future grid integration.
Last year, PGCIL invited bids to set up a BESS with a capacity of 5 MW/20 MWh, co-located with an 85 MW solar project at Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
